How old are the road bricks on Concourse Avenue? And other brick streets in ES? Manufacturer?
Citizen Rick Holman answered with , "M y guess would be they were made in the Coffeyville, KS. area around 1890 -1900. Coffeyville had several plants in & around that area, I know of 3-4 brick plants from that area. None still in operation. It makes sense they were from that area with the cost to transport the heavy bricks, each weighing around 6 lbs. Back in the day they probably cost around 5 cents ea. Today to buy them they sell for around $ 1.75 & up ea. (If you can find them in any sizable quantity).

Over the years I have traveled to several area towns in a few states to check on purchasing for resale. I do think there’s another street on the east end of town (Lee Street, off Isley Blvd)...Typically in the streets they were laid on edge to add more depth / thickness for the vehicular traffic areas. Sorry for the long answer, bricks are a passion of mine after selling them around 30 years."
