Disaster Relief Fund Activated
Exchange Club members who are feeling the impacts of this season's hurricanes continue to be in our thoughts and well wishes.
As is the true spirit of Exchange, members in paths of these storms have undoubtedly continued their generosity to others, and now it's our turn to support them! If you would like to help fellow members who have been effected, please consider a donation to the NEC Foundation Disaster Relief Fund. Monies donated to this fund will go directly to help Exchange Club members in need; and, of course, your donation is tax deductible. Some funds have already dispersed to help those who have requested assistance - we thank you on their behalf!
There are three simple ways to donate:
1. Text-to-donate: Text the word
RELIEF to 419-800-0358 (you will be prompted to secure registration for your first donation);
3. Mail a check, payable to NEC Foundation, to 3050 W. Central Ave., Toledo, OH 43606 (note "Hurricane Relief" in the memo section).
The NEC Foundation will work with Exchange Club leadership on the distribution of these funds to provide monetary assistance effectively and efficiently. Please keep these families in your thoughts and prayers!

"11/11@7"
Raising Funds to House Homeless American Veterans!
Hopefully, your Exchange Club has begun planning its "11/11@7" event to raise funds for housing America's homeless veterans! Exchange is proud and excited to be in this 4th year of partnership with Veterans Matter and we know Exchange Clubs across the country continue to embrace the collaboration, as well!
A quick message from Ken Leslie, Advocate in Chief, Veterans Matter:
Hey, fellow Exchange Club members!
This has been one incredible year for the partnership that has grown leaps and bounds between National Exchange Club and Veterans Matter!
Exchange Clubs all across the nation have shown their compassion for our nation's heroes by making sure that our unhoused heroes have a safe, warm place to call home this winter! Last year, 30 Exchange Clubs came together and helped Veterans Matter be able to house 50 veterans and their families! With this year's 11/11@7 Rallies - that number is going to increase.
We are eternally appreciative of the great opportunity that we, as Exchange Club members, have had placed in our path! Not only has it been impressive to see how many clubs have felt the call to help our nation's unhoused heroes, but we here at Veterans Matter have become part of The National Exchange Club family and we couldn't be any more proud of that fact!
Following your club's 11/11@7, be sure to send pictures with captions, and event details, to
commun@NationalExchangeClub.org. We'll share them with your fellow club members throughout the country!
To help them stay efficient and organized, Exchange Clubs are being asked to send all funds raised for Veterans Matter directly to the National Exchange Club Foundation. The NEC Foundation will track the donations and
quickly
forward the funds to Veterans Matter, as well as award the top earning clubs!
Please mail your Exchange Club's check to the "NEC Foundation 3050 W. Central Ave. Toledo, OH 43606", denoting "Veterans Matter" as the recipient.

Exchange Clubs
can secure financial support from organizations or individuals that wish to give the funds to a 501(c)(3) organization.
The donation becomes tax deductible for the donor.
For donations totaling $250 or more, the National Exchange Club Foundation will regrant the funds to the Exchange Club submitting a Passthrough Grant Form. The NEC Foundation gladly provides this benefit to Exchange Clubs for a minimal processing fee
of 2%. Many clubs and their local donors have been able to take advantage of the Foundation's ability to provide this benefit to maximize their donor's tax advantage. The application form can be downloaded from the main landing page of the Member Resources section of Exchange's website.
Fees for other types of grants via the NEC Foundation will be discussed with those requesting the grant.

|
E
xchange Clubs and Districts are required to electronically submit Form 990-N, also known as the e-Postcard, unless they choose to file a completed Form 990 or Form 990-EZ.
Any club or district that fails to file required e-Postcards (or information returns - Forms 990 or 990-EZ) for three consecutive years will automatically lose its tax-exempt status. The revocation of the club's or district's tax-exempt status will take place on the filing due date of the third year. The e-Postcard is due on November 15, the day of the fifth month after the close of Exchange's tax year on June 30.
Filing the e-postcard is simple by accessing the following site:
www.irs.gov/990n; click on the link in the first paragraph to login and start filing - Form 990-N Electronic Filing system (e-Postcard).

November is National Adoption Month
|
|
For more than two decades, National Adoption Month has been promoted and celebrated every November in communities across the country. Many national, state, and local agencies, as well as foster, kinship care, and adoptive family groups, share awareness through programs, events, and activities on behalf of thousands of children and youth in foster care awaiting permanent, loving families.
If you are unfamiliar with the system of adoption, November is a great time to learn more about this important work. Exchange Clubs might consider supporting the work of local agencies and/or inviting a guest speaker to a meeting. National organizations to consider include:

Child Abuse Prevention Center Network Update

Numerous Exchange Club Child Abuse Prevention Centers have been negatively impacted by the recent hurricanes. Please keep the staff and
the
families they assist in your thoughts and prayers. Of course, we continue to send well wishes to the members of the many of Exchange Clubs and Districts that were also effected.

Programs of Service Opportunities
|
New opportunities for Exchange Clubs, Collegiate Clubs, Excel Clubs, and members to better their communities are always upon us.
Here are a few suggestions to help generate project ideas:
November is One Nation Under God Month. Get involved by sponsoring a One Nation Under God breakfast in the community!
- Volunteering at a local homeless shelter, or church, where Thanksgiving dinners are being served.
- Hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for a local family (or families) in need.
December:
is a month of celebration and giving back! To participate, clubs and members could:
- Provide holiday dinner baskets to local Exchange CAP Center families, or consider volunteering your time.
- Donate Christmas gifts to local day care centers.
- Sponsor a holiday party at a senior center or nursing home.
January:
Clubs and members may consider:
- Visiting a nursing home and reading a book with the residents, talking about topics in the news, playing cards, and bringing joy into their lives!
- Offering your skills rather than goods. Offer to repaint a community playground, rake leaves, or shovel the snow of a neighbor who is unable to so.
- Plan ahead for February, National Community Service Month.
Please remember to share p
ictures of your club at work with National Headquarters: commun@NationalExchangeClub.org and share on social media with #ExchangeStrong and #GrowExchange!
