Tanglewood Music Festival James Taylor and his All-Star Band perform with special guest Tiny Habits on July 3 and 4 (8 pm). The six-time GRAMMY-winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee is marking his 51st season at the festival.  Boston Symphony opening Night at Tanglewood features All-Rachmaninoff Program with Daniil Trifonov (July 5, 8pm). On July 6, 2:30pm Beethoven Symphony No. 5 & Piano Concerto No. 3 with Yefim Bronfman. Norman Rockwell Museum Celebrate Independence Day at Norman Rockwell Museum!  The Norman Rockwell Museum, in partnership with The Guthrie Center, invites the public to a special day of programming. "We Hold These Truths" is a day honoring American independence, civic ideals, and democracy. This festive event celebrates the community spirit and humanity captured so powerfully in Rockwell’s art—and invites people of all ages to reflect and reconnect with the spirit of the day through the lens of art, music, and community. Listen to a public recitation of the Declaration of Independence read by Berkshire County community leaders and residents. Enjoy live music by folksinger Doug Mishkin and by performers Annie and Abe Guthrie. Experience Norman Rockwell’s iconic paintings exploring the themes of freedom and civil rights and reflect on what these ideals mean today. Make your own art to celebrate America’s birthday. Bring your picnic blanket and spend the afternoon enjoying the music and the beautiful Berkshire views. Berkshire Theatre Group at the Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge, Out of Character After a powerful developmental debut at Berkshire Theatre Group of New Jewish Plays last summer, Out of Character—written and performed by Tony Award winner Ari’el Stachel—returns for a fully realized production. Hailed as a “riveting and deeply personal performance,” Out of Character is as funny as it is deeply affecting. Through storytelling both vulnerable and uplifting, Stachel brings audiences on a journey of discovery that is uniquely his yet universally relatable. This production is not to be missed—an unforgettable night of theatre that challenges, inspires and ultimately celebrates the beauty of embracing who we are. Chesterwood Two Poets: Patrick Donnelly & Lisken Van Pelt Dus, Lisken Van Pelt Dus will read from her second collection of poems, the recently published “How Many Hands to Home.” Patrick Donnelly will read from his fifth collection of poems, the recently published “Willow Hammer.” (July 9, 5pm), Wine Tasting in partnership with Nejaime's Wine Cellars. Berkshire Botanical Garden Wines of France: A Pre-Bastille Day Celebration, Join Dare Bottleshop & Provisions and fellow wine lovers for an intimate evening at the Berkshire Botanical Garden Center House (July 10, 6-7pm), Sunset Yoga in the Garden, This free outdoor program is appropriate for all skill levels and is a perfect way to end the day. Classes are led by Kathi Cafiero, a Kripalu-certified Legacy Yoga Teacher. Shakespeare & Company Shake It Up: A Shakespeare Cabaret (July 1-6) July starts with the reprise of Shake It Up: A Shakespeare Cabaret, offering a mash up of modern music and Shakespearen verse. The show features Jacob Ming-Trent; Elliot Norton Award-winner Jennifer AppleGregory BooverRaya Malcolm, Merlin McCormick, and Naire Poole, joined by a live band including guitarist/vocalist Johnny Irion, jazz pianist Benny ‘Fingers’ Kohn, drummer Conor Meehan, and others. “Shakespeare and rock ‘n’ roll have been part of the fabric and lifeblood of popular culture for a long time,” said Allyn Burrows, director and co-creator of Shake It Up. “Mashing them together yielded fun and fascinating results, so we’re eager to keep digging.” Rogovoy Report, The Victim by Lawrence Goodman featuring Annette Miller (June 19 - July 20) |Lenox, MA

The Mount Edith Wharton's Home Summer Author Series runs July 7 – August 26. Talks are Mondays at 4pm and Tuesdays at 11am. Since 1993, the Summer Author Series has brought award-winning authors to The Mount. Clark Art Sensing Nature: From the Outside In (July 6, 2-3:30pm), Summer Concert Series, Gaby Moreno brings her much-lauded blend of soul and Latin rock to the free outdoor concert series. Over her career, Moreno has shared the international stage with music luminaries such as Tracy Chapman, Nickel Creek, Buena Vista Social Club, Calexico, Los Lobos, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Taj Mahal, and Jackson Browne.
