Hope, Joy, and Peace in 2025

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him,

so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 15:13

We pray that your 2025 is filled with JOY and PEACE that come only from the God of HOPE as you trust in Him,

knowing that nothing in the New Year will take God by surprise!

Exciting Transitions

January 2025 rings in a transition of roles within the VIS staff. Bernita Tuinenga joined VIS in 2007 and has served as the Executive Director for 14 years. Bernita has faithfully led VIS, holding tight to her Savior and following His lead as VIS grew into the ministry it is today, empowering the people of God across the county and across denominations to serve their local community for the purpose of witnessing Christ’s love and building the Kingdom of God.

As of January 2025, Bernita is fully committing her time to serve as the Director of Development and Partnerships for Volunteers In Service.

Cori Scholtens joined VIS in November of 2023 as the Director of Programs and Training. Cori has enjoyed a deliberate season of learning and serving alongside Bernita and the VIS staff. The Board of Directors is excited to announce that, as of January 2025, Cori is serving as the Executive Director of Volunteers In Service.

In partnership, Bernita and Cori humbly request your continued support of and prayers for Volunteers In Service as we trust in the God of hope to fill us with joy and peace, so that through our trust in Him our connecting of God’s people to service opportunities in the community may overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Welcome Melanie and Spencer
