Beginning January 6, 2021, the Main library will be closed on Wednesdays, while the SoNo branch will be open. The SoNo branch will be closed on Thursdays, while the Main library will be open.
This will allow for better staff scheduling for social distancing and one day to deep clean each building.

In a four part virtual program, career advisor Lauren Rosenkranz will help you kickstart your career search.  In the first session you will learn networking strategies and the key elements to building a solid LinkedIn profile.  This will be followed by a session on resume and cover letter writing.  Here, you will have the opportunity to have a resume critique.  We will then progress into a session focused on successful interviewing where you will learn how to use the job interview to your best advantage. We close the series with professionalism in the workplace, learning how to create a professional online presence and learn appropriate email and phone etiquette.

Anyone can Cut the Cord! Cord cutting refers to the process of cutting expensive cable connections in order to change to a low-cost TV channel subscription through over-the-air (OT) free broadcast through antenna, or over-the-top (OTT) broadcast over the Internet. Netflix, Apple TV and Hulu are some of the popular broadcasting services that encourage cord cutting. Join Norwalk Public Library's Aldo Arauja on a live Zoom event to learn the basics of the process and have your questions and concerns addressed.

Where do you get ideas to write fiction stories? New and experienced writers are invited to explore new ways of generating story ideas and creative possibilities including the OuLiPo method to banish writer's block! Author and writing teacher, Kim Kovach, shares how to create unique characters and interesting stories in this 10-week adult writing program. Classes will meet each week on Zoom.

 Wildlife and plants are inextricably linkedPeter Picone-Wildlife Biologist, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP)-will share his insights into enhancing and creating our landscapes with native plants that attract and benefit wildlife. Every small space of meadow helps the world! He will illustrate his knowledge through his beautiful slides and video outtakes of native plant and wildlife interactions. We will also learn about the marvelous larger meadows that DEEP creates all across Connecticut, serving our wildlife and pollinators ! Peter has been working in the field of wildlife habitat enhancement for over 30 years.

The Norwalk Public Library is now lending Wifi Hotspots Kits

Each kit contains a Dell Chromebook and a personal hotspot with unlimited data. They are available to any adult with a Norwalk Public Library card and can be picked up at our sidewalk service desks at both the Main and SoNo branches on a walk-in basis only, and checkout is limited to one (1) per household. 

The lending period is one (1) week, non-renewable. Borrowers will be asked to      provide additional ID along with their library card, e.g. driver's license, state photo ID, etc.

being assisted by Reference Staff in retrieving items off the shelves.
