Fall in Love with Reading - All Ages Challenge at VML
Join the "Fall in Love with Reading Challenge" this fall! This all-ages challenge is for kids, tweens, teens, and adults. Complete the challenge by reading at least one book you have not read before between October 1 to December 18. Challenge yourself by setting a goal for how many books you want to read - you can log up to 16 books. At the end of the challenge, we will have a drawing for cozy fall goodie bags for each age group. You can also add to the fun by reading new genres in our added Genre Challenge (one for each age group). Complete the genre challenge and get a free book!

Virtual Writing Group
New to VML! The Virtual Writing Group will meet this fall on Tuesday, 10/13, Tuesday, 11/10, and Tuesday 12/8 from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. Join us as we write creatively and share our inspirations in a supportive environment. Each session will feature a different writing prompt and a rich selection of music. Click Here to sign up!

Fall Photography Event
Do you have a passion for nature photography? If so, we want your fall photos! We will feature fall photos beginning October 15th through November 14th on our Facebook account. All participants are encouraged to submit .jpg photos (limit of 3 per person) to nhickey@ocln.org.

Hey, Kiddo
Community Read
Join us to celebrate the power of art to share personal stories and address difficult topics. We have copies of Hey, Kiddo by Jarrett Krosoczka for patrons to borrow, with funds from Marshfield FACTS. Teens ages 12 and up and adults are invited to read the book and complete the Hey, Kiddo! challenge on Beanstack, with links to interviews and more to get ready for the two community book discussions. The Beanstack challenge runs from now until December 6. Register for the discussions separately.

Attention students! This is how we can help you:

Study Care Packages for Middle & High School Students are available in the Teen Room. Starting next week, snag one in the Teen Room during in-person hours or reserve one by emailing Erica at eruscio@ocln.org. Study Care Packages are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. One per student please.

Free printing of up to ten black & white pages for middle, high school and college students! Available on Wednesdays from 12-6:30 p.m. - all students need to show a valid student ID. Visit the Teen Room to get started.

Study for an hour in the library. If you're looking for a quiet place, open seating is spaced out and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. School-age teens can also use the Teen Room.

Check out a free hotspot if you need wifi at home - call us during open hours and we will gladly assist you.

Children's Updates
"Take + Make" schedule is available! Here are our October offerings: 10/5 Autumn Door Hanger; 10/13 Paper Strips Pumpkin; 10/19 Halloween Banner; and 10/26 Pumpkin Patch Box.
Registration opens every Monday at 9 a.m. (except for Columbus Day when registration will open Tuesday) and can be found on our website, along with the full "Take + Make" schedule.
Children's Room browsing appointments are also available! Appointments are for one family at a time, for twenty minutes. Available Wednesdays 12 - 6 p.m. (11 - 12 p.m. for seniors and high-risk individuals), Thursdays 10 a.m. -3:30 p.m. (9 - 10 a.m. for seniors and high-risk individuals.) You must have an appointment to browse the Children's Room, we are currently booking through October. If you do not have an appointment, staff will be happy to assist you with getting any books you might need, and there is a Quick Pick Kids shelf in the main library as well. We are so happy to welcome our Ventress families back!
