WAYFINDING CONTRACT AWARDED

Kris Fitzgerald, (above) grew up in South Glens Falls. She brings extensive trail knowledge and passion for outdoor activities to the Feeder Canal Wayfinding Project. The 2K team will begin work on the project immediately, with a timeline of completion in the Fall of 2027.

CONGRATS TO Kris Fitzgerald and her team at 2K Design!

We are pleased to announce the selection of a qualified firm to design and implement a wayfinding and interpretive signage program for the Feeder Canal Park.

With 30+ years' experience in marketing and design, 2K has worked on trail projects with the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, and the New York Susquehanna Basin Water Trail.

The Feeder Canal Park is part of Kris Fitzgerald's family legacy, as her grandfather, Gerald Fitzgerald, directly contributed to the enhancement and preservation of the canal through his village planning work. He also participated in an oral history project on the NYS canal system with his interview by former FCA Executive Director, Jeannie Williams. "So, to now have the chance to work on signage and be part of the canal’s history is very special", said Kris.

Capital Campaign & Trail Survey

The Feeder Canal Park Wayfinding Project is supported by a matching NYS REDC grant through NYS Canal Corporation.

We're launching a campaign this summer to raise required funds and educate the community about the positive impact the park has on our regional economic development goals.

*About the Wildflower Walk w/ Diane Collins & Nature Art Project

undefined

Diane will lead a fun, informative walk along the canal. We’ll walk slowly and take in the very same smells and sounds as the flowers. Diane believes "Just looking for wildflowers keeps us aware of how we are all connected!".

Participants will receive a packet of wildflower seeds to bring home & create their own wildflower garden!

While on the walk, you can gather natural "art supplies" such as beautiful leaves, sticks, pine cones...anything that has fallen to the ground.

Then, at the craft table you can create a fun assemblage on paper or in the form of a hanging mobile to celebrate the day. Additional supplies and instruction provided.
