We are happy to report that we have liberated some boxes of sweatshirts, PJs, and scarves from the band room and are putting them up for sale. So support Samohi Band and outfit your student in the fashionable Zoom school uniform of choice: soft sweatshirts and flannel PJ pants! We've got:

All clothing comes in unisex sizes S, M, L, XL, and some in 2XL. The scarf is one size (lol). To order band merch, just shoot an email to Clare Bundy Haygood at [email protected]. You can pay through Paypal, Venmo, or check, with an easy, no-contact porch pickup from Sunset Park. All sales benefit the Samohi Band program!

THANK YOU to all of our families who were able to contribute to our direct donation campaign. We are more than halfway to our goal, but we still need more donations to help pay for coaching, equipment and supplies, and other basic operating expenses that keep us afloat during distance learning. Every dollar helps!

As a reminder, suggested donations were $200 per student for concert band, $400 for marching band, and $200 for jazz band. But once again, we welcome and are thankful for donations of ALL sizes. You can even take the 10-month pledge!

If you have a Ralphs rewards card, Ralphs/Kroger will make a contribution to Samohi Band every time you shop – and it doesn’t cost you a penny! To enroll (or re-enroll), just go to https://www.ralphs.com/account/communityrewards and search for "SANTA MONICA BAND" (make sure you spell it out — "Samohi" won't come up with any results). Click on "ENROLL" and then follow the instructions. Over the years, our Ralph's Community Rewards program has brought in some much-needed funds — so we encourage you to sign up and get shopping!

We are also enrolled in a simple e-scrip program that gives a percentage to the band program whenever you frequent local restaurants and merchants. To register your credit or debit card, just go to www.escrip.com and sign up. This time you'll enter your zip code, then search for "Samohi Band," and voila! All sorts of local restaurants and stores are enrolled in the program, and you can register as many cards as you like.

Planning is underway for a virtual bingo night hosted by band parents Amy and Rob Levin! These guys are old pros at hosting bingo games, and have even hosted one or two since the pandemic started. (We hear Zoom bingo is a lot of fun!) We'll keep you updated and send a save-the-date when the time comes.
