Dear Wesley UMC Family,
The Staff Parish Relations Committee is excited to share important news with you. As we prepare for Pastor Sara’s upcoming reassignment, we are pleased to announce that the bishops have appointed a new pastor to lead us. Pastor Nic Showalter will officially begin his role as our Senior Pastor on July 1st, with his first Sunday service on July 6th.
Pastor Nic grew up in Taylorville, Illinois, and earned a business degree from Illinois Wesleyan University before pursuing his Master of Divinity at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. He has served in several churches across Illinois, including Maroa UMC, Villa Grove UMC, and Carmi First UMC. Most recently, he has been serving as the District Superintendent for the West District of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference. Pastor Nic is passionate about fostering strong relationships within the church and the broader community, and he is eager to return to the pulpit.
Pastor Nic’s wife, Jill, is an experienced nurse with a background in various areas of healthcare. They have two adult daughters and three grandchildren. Outside of ministry, Pastor Nic enjoys landscape photography, which provides him and Jill with opportunities to appreciate the beauty of God’s creation.
We look forward to warmly welcoming Pastor Nic, Jill, and their family into our church community on July 6th. We are eager to see the exciting ways God will work through this new chapter in our ministry together.
Over the next five months, we will continue to cherish and learn from Pastor Sara as she prepares for her next calling. Stay tuned for more details on how we can come together to extend our warm Wesley welcome to the Showalters. In the meantime, please keep both Pastor Sara and Pastor Nic in your prayers as they transition into their new roles.
