WALKS TO THE PARK GIVE SHELTER DOGS AN OPPORTUNITY TO STRETCH THEIR LEGS AND STRUT THEIR STUFF
There's nothing like a Saturday stroll with your pooch! Unfortunately, many shelter dogs don't have anyone to stroll with...not until now that is. Ramona Humane Society has instituted “walk to the park” days. Volunteers choose a dog from the shelter and walk to the local park with other dogs and volunteers. The walk provides exercise and enrichment to the lives of the dogs as they get exploration away from the shelter. The program is also helping make our dogs more "adoptable" by training them to walk well on a leash.
Volunteers learn about the dogs they have been working with such as how they may react to loud noises, or other canine encounters. Finally, our community members see the dogs and can ask questions about them which could lead to adoption.
