It
has truly been an exciting 8 months at Uptown! Since we opened in January, over 8,000 people have purchased tickets for a performance. Many others have held meetings, attended a party or stopped in for a visit. The wide variety and high quality of our programming is making the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center a vibrant community gathering place and serves as a credit to everyone involved in bringing a theater to West Chester!
As we celebrate the arrival of Fall, we wanted to make you aware of some important awards and happenings at Uptown!:
* The Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center
was named "Best New Theater 2017" by Main
Line Today magazine.

Uptown! received
Preservation PA's Public
Impact Award
for its transformation of the
National Guard Armory. These annual awards
recognize significant contributions in the field of
historic preservation made by both individuals
and organizations. This specific award
recognizes the strong community involvement
demonstrated in bringing a theater to West
Chester, while at the same time preserving the
historic Armory building.
* Uptown! will be receiving the
Bricks and
Mortar Award
from The West Chester
Downtown Foundation. The Foundation created
this awards program to recognize and honor
projects both large and small that help highlight
and preserve West Chester's historic character.

Uptown! has been approved by the Pennsylvania
Department of Community and Economic
Development as an
Educational Improvement
Organization (EITC)
, an approval that helps
us fulfill our mission of serving the community.
This distinction allows area businesses to receive
a tax credit when they donate to any Uptown!
state-qualified educational K-12 program. To

This Fall we are moving outside to install our new sign, repoint the exterior brickwork, and design landscaping.
This recognition and praise means a great deal - especially in these busy opening months - but we still need your support.
