Serve MSP is a day camp for youth in grades 7-12. At Serve MSP, youth will spend time volunteering with service partners that work to support and advocate for the marginalized and those in need in the Twin Cities area. Each day will also include time to hear from community speakers and leaders about topics rooted in social justice. We’ll be unpacking scripture and stories related to these topics, too, with an anchor held in this verse from Esther:
“For such a time as this.”
Minnesota has been a central figure in conversations about social justice in recent history. Serve MSP will allow an opportunity to safely gather with other youth and community leaders, to serve organizations that are doing justice work every day, and to engage in necessary conversations.
We'll gather from August 3-5 at several locations in the Twin Cities (itineraries will be distributed to adult leaders before camp week). We'll have a Zoom Kickoff Event on Aug 2 and a closing worship service on August 5. In the weeks leading up to Serve MSP, adult leaders will have a menu of service and learning opportunities to choose from and can determine what will be best for their group (based on group size, age, learning emphasis). $40/student will cover the cost of materials (and for a sweet t-shirt) over the course of the camp week; scholarships are available.
