Celebrating milestones, new initiatives, and student success

Team MetroSquash Triumphs in Detroit!

In October, Team MetroSquash had an incredible showing in Detroit for the Great Lakes Invitational, bringing home two first-place wins and seven top-three finishes! Our students showed immense grit and teamwork, excelling both on the court and off. Highlights include Jaden and Sofhia’s nail-biting final match between friends, Jacoby’s heart-stopping comeback in the semifinals after saving four match points, and Sam’s relentless determination in the 3rd/4th playoff, pushing through sheer exhaustion. Special shoutout to Jalisa, who not only won both her group matches but also looked after her teammates all weekend.

These achievements are a testament to our students' dedication and the commitment of our coaching staff. Thank you to everyone for the hard work that led to our best results yet!

College & Careers Care Packages Sent

Our College and Careers team recently organized heartfelt care packages for our college students! Our 13 first-year students are diving into their first round of midterms and papers, while our older college students continue to tackle classes with more depth and demands. During these times of unfamiliarity, it’s important to remind them of their MetroSquash family and the community cheering them on.

Each care package was thoughtfully curated, filled with treats, notes of encouragement, and self-care items—small reminders that they are never alone on this journey. Here’s to supporting our students every step of the way!

Academics & Enrichment - Evanston and Woodlawn

High school students recently visited Lake Forest College and Marquette University, where they explored campus life and learned about new opportunities. Not only are students out exploring new college campuses, but other institutions such as Albion College, have made visits directly to MetroSquash to provide insight on the college admissions process!

Middle school students in 4th-8th grade are taking part in MRI Testing to track their academic progress, which will set the team up for success for the remainder of the school year. MetroSquash is also excited to move forward with a Peer Mentoring program, where high school juniors and seniors will serve as tutors and mentors for middle school students, beginning with 4th-6th graders. This initiative fosters strong, supportive connections among our students while enhancing academic skills and confidence for all.

Volunteer Spotlight

MetroSquash volunteer, Alec, recently shared his passion for squash with our 11th-grade cohort, showing how the sport builds skills that apply in academics, especially math! We’re grateful for his consistent dedication on the court and in the classroom. Thank you, Alec, for inspiring our students!
