2014 Upcoming Events

Our friends Team Rodge have another exciting event coming up. The 8th Grade friends of Hannah Rodgers have organized the Team Rodge 5K Walk/Run to honor Hannah's dad, Chris, taking place on September 14, 2014 at Red Wing High School in Red Wing, MN. Chris was diagnosed with PMP in November 2007. Help to raise awareness of this rare disease and raise funds for research and education! We are so proud of these girls!

The Fifth Annual PMP Pub Crawl will take place this year on Saturday, October 4 in and around New Haven, CT. This event honors the memory of our friend, Doug Selmont. More details coming soon at pmpcure.org/events.

The Fourth Annual UMass PMP/Appendiceal Cancer Symposium will be taking place in mid-November, 2014 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA. This event is open to practitioners as well as patients and their families. More details coming soon.

Sponsorship of UMD Conference

PMPRF is proud to have once again provided an educational grant enabling 15 medical professionals, including 8 surgical oncology fellows along with residents, medical students and post-doctoral candidates, to attend The 3rd Annual Update and Workshop on Management of Peritoneal Surface Malignancies that took place at University of Maryland School of Medicine on June 12-13, 2014.

This grant was awarded to honor the memory of our friends Doug Selmont and Derek "DC" Corner, both of whom we lost to PMP earlier this year. Doug and DC were both passionate supporters of PMPRF and are the inspiration for our two coolest events, the PMP Pub Crawl (Doug) and DC Rocks PMP (DC). The efforts of Doug and DC and their friends and families, and of all our our supporters, made this grant possible and will help educate a future generation of doctors and researchers about PMP, PSM, and Appendix Cancer.

Our two signature summer events raised over $65,000 for PMP Research and Education. Thank you to everyone who participated in the 8th Annual PMP Cancer Walk in PA on June 15, and the 5th Annual Summer Scurry in OH on August 9! We hope to see you all again in 2015!

News from Grant Recipients

PMP Research Foundation Professional Advisory Board member and grant cycle recipient for 2011 and 2013 Dr. Andrew Lowy and his team published exciting research funded by PMPRF in the journal Genome Medicine this past June titled "Genome-wide mutational landscape of mucinous carcinomatosis peritonei of appendiceal origin." Thank you Dr. Lowy for your dedication to PMPRF, and for working to improve the lives of all patients suffering from Appendix Cancer and PMP!
