Update May 29th 2025

This Sunday will be Ascension Sunday

We want to thank Joe, our Director of Music, for the time and wonderful work at John Wesley. He has been a great blessing to us all. We will miss him, and we wish him and Bill a wonderful new journey in their new home in Portugal.

Come join us for the second year in a row, the amazing Boston Eastern Heritage Chorus! They will be here at JWUMC on May 31st 3:00 - 4:00 PM for an amazing FREE concert featuring our very own JW Choir!

There will be a potluck dinner provided by Waqouit Congregational Church and John Wesley UMC after the performance.

If you cannot make the event but would like to make a dish/dessert you can leave it in the kitchen.

The Hospitality team will be in the kitchen at 2:00pm along with WCC volunteers.

CAUTION - NAME TAGS HAVE MAGNETIC DEVICE. DO NOT USE WITH PACEMAKER.

Please email the office if you need a new name tag with a pin back. In the mean time there are sticky name tags on the table below the name tag board in the coat room.

Thank you to the 37 volunteers who worked the sale. They set up the tents and tables during the afternoon of Wednesday, May 21 because high winds were forecasted on Thursday, the day we normally do the tent set up. But we were not able to move delivery of the plant to Wednesday, so we unload the plants from three trucks in heavy rain. That didn’t slow the volunteers down or dampen their spirits. The plants were beautiful and survived the night in spite of high winds and rain. Pastor René even came to help arrange the plants. Everyone went home soaking wet! The sale was Friday and Saturday, May 23 and 24. The weather was overcast and cold on Friday but partly sunny on Saturday.  Due to the dreary and cold weather, the customer turn-out was not up to our usual numbers. Our inventory of plants was very nicely distributed throughout all varieties. The final profit was $6,500.

Thanks to Kappy’s and the Falmouth Service Center for providing us with cardboard trays which our customers used to carry their plants home.

On June 8, during our worship service, we will be celebrating Pentecost. We hope you can join us for a time when we celebrate the beginning of the Christian Church. The worship ministry team is planning a special Spirit-filled service, and we are asking everyone to wear red.

We have a Spotify Account!! Listen to past sermons and scripture readings anytime, anywhere!

COMMUNITY EVENTS

On behalf of the Falmouth Walk Committee I want to thank John Wesley for the Silver Sponsorship for the 2025 Walk that will take place on Saturday August 16th. Last year the Committee distributed $60,000.00 to 10 local non-profits. Registration is now opened so I encourage you to visit the Falmouth Walk website and register early to ensure you receive a walk t-shirt. The JW logo will be on 900 shirts with your increased sponsorship level. Last year we had a great JW turnout and hope we see an increase in this year’s participation. If you have any questions feel free to reach out Kate or Brent.

Thanks

Brent & Kate Finemore
