This month we are pleased to introduce Task Force member, Bill McAvoy, Executive Director of the Supplier Diversity Office (SDO) for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Formerly known as the State of Office of Minority Women Business (SOMWBA), the SDO focuses on promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in state contracting and aims to increase opportunities for certified businesses and Small Business Purchasing Program (SBPP) participants through annual state agency spending benchmarks. The SDO also provides public access to the certified business lists on their website and distributes business opportunity events and notices to SDO participants.
In collaboration with the Operational Services Division (OSD), the State Purchasing Agent, SDO recently announced that they are working together to uphold the Administration’s commitment to equity by creating opportunities for local businesses to sell their goods and services to the state and its municipalities.
