Important Medi-Cal Updates Ahead:
What Members Need to Know
| | |
Major updates are coming to Medi-Cal that may impact seniors, people with disabilities, and undocumented adults.
Most members will keep their current coverage and continue to have access to medical, dental, vision, mental health, and preventive care services—including doctor visits, prescriptions, hospital stays, and more to support your overall health.
However, some groups will see changes starting in 2026 and 2027.
Changes include:
- Asset Limits Returning: Starting Jan. 1, 2026, Medi-Cal will again consider assets (like savings or extra vehicles) for seniors and people with disabilities.
- Enrollment Freeze: Undocumented adults (ages 19+) not currently enrolled won’t be able to newly sign up for full-scope Medi-Cal beginning in 2026.
- Dental Coverage Ends: As of July 1, 2026, non-emergency dental care will no longer be covered for undocumented adults.
- Monthly Premiums Begin: Starting July 1, 2027, certain undocumented adults must pay $30/month to maintain full-scope Medi-Cal.
Current Medi-Cal members are encouraged to renew on time to maintain their coverage. They should watch for mail and respond promptly to renewal packets or letters from their health plan or local county office.

"Bridging Data and Doing"
In Partnership with 211 San Diego/CIE and Civitas’ California members
| | |
211 San Diego and the Community Information Exchange (CIE) were honored to co-host this year’s Civitas Annual Conference, themed “Bridging Data and Doing!”. This dynamic partnership underscored a shared commitment to advancing cross-sector collaboration and driving innovation in health improvement nationwide.
The conference brought together nearly 800 attendees, including speakers, panelists, sponsors, industry experts, community partners, and advocates for change. As co-hosts, 211 San Diego and CIE worked closely with the Civitas team to curate 17 specialized tracks centered on the Community Information Exchange. These sessions explored key topics such as interoperability, social determinants of health, community voice, and the transformative impact of integrating social and health data.
William York, President & CEO of 211 San Diego, joined fellow leaders and stakeholders from across California on the main stage to share insights on how health and social service data exchange can enhance patient care—particularly through the lens of California’s Data Exchange Framework.
A heartfelt thank you to the CIVITAS Team, our partners, stakeholders, and attendees, for making this year’s conference a resounding success!

The CIE Partner Network works to improve the overall service delivery system for clients. Our meeting provides a forum for partners to share updates about ongoing CIE initiatives, share trends in our community, and collaborate on how we as a network are leveraging our partnership, data sharing, and the CIE technology platform to address the social determinants of health and increase health equity.
Join us for a range of content. Each month, we may dive into the latest technology projects, elicit feedback on the platform’s care coordination tools, or spotlight programs and supports for unique populations. The partner gathering is a space to engage with peers across our shared network. Join us on the 4th Thursday of every month (except November and December) at 9:00 am via Zoom.
