Welcome! We are delighted to lead UCSF PARC into the 2023-2024 academic cycle, home to world-class clinicians and scientists. PARC’s mission is to accelerate the translation of research into improved patient care in the areas of pain and addiction. Our ambitious, interdisciplinary approach of PARC catalyzes UCSF’s collective clinical, research, and education expertise in pain and addiction across our professional schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, the Graduate School, and the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science. Now with 119 members and growing, PARC has provided more than 25 seminars, research retreats and working groups, and has garnered philanthropic support for numerous initiatives including a pain education website and PARC fellowships. We recently welcomed three accomplished UCSF faculty members as recipients of the 2023 PARC Fellowships and the Painless Research Foundation Fellowship. Read more about them and their research projects below. Our monthly PARC seminars throughout the academic year provide local, national, and international expertise on current issues in the areas of pain and addiction. This year we have developed three themes: Back Pain - Chronic Pain, Substance Use Disorder - Addiction, and Cancer Pain. Each theme includes a patient-centered case presentation offering first-person accounts of successes and gaps facing patients and PARC’s mission. Tune in for our November seminar. Also, we love hearing from you. Please reach out at any time!
