Chinn Renovation Project

Dear Passholder,

The Chinn Aquatics and Fitness Center will undergo a major renovation of the natatorium beginning August 11, 2025, with an anticipated reopening on December 1, 2025. During this time, the entire natatorium — including all pools, spas, and aquatic programming — will be closed. More details about the project can be found here: Chinn Renovation Project

Planned improvements include:

  • Full resurfacing and new racing tiles in the main pool
  • Installation of a brand-new bulkhead
  • Upgraded filtration systems for both main and leisure pools
  • Replacement of gutter grating
  • Resurfacing of the leisure pool
  • Regrouting of pool deck areas
  • Removal of the high dive structure

What to Expect During the Closure:

  • The main pool, leisure pool, and both spas will be closed throughout the project.
  • All aquatic programming, group exercise, and swim team practices will be paused.
  • Low-impact group fitness classes will be offered as alternatives to aqua fitness.

Alternate Aquatic Access:

Current Chinn pass holders can use the pool at the Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center. Please keep in mind that the SBDCRC natatorium does not have the same capacity as Chinn and some programs such as swim lessons and aqua group exercise classes may not be able to accommodate all members.

Current Chinn pass holders can use the Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center starting on Monday, August 11, 2025. Please refer to the project website FAQ section under “Are there alternate pools I can use in the meantime?” for instructions on how to access Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center.

We are working to provide member access to other nearby aquatic centers, including Prince William County Schools Aquatics Center, and Birchdale Community Pool. Additional details will be shared as we work to finalize details.

If you wish to pause your membership during the closure, please stay tuned for information on how to submit your request.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we make these exciting upgrades to enhance your aquatics experience.

Sincerely,

Kat Fish,

General Manager, Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center
