This morning Assemblymember Dr. Joaquin Arambula hosted a press conference at Wildwood Native Park to announce $15 million of state funding to the San Joaquin River Conservancy for San Joaquin River Parkway operations and maintenance.

Since 1988, the River Parkway Trust has been working to conserve land and provide access to the San Joaquin River. Our ongoing challenge has always been the lack of operations and maintenance funding. Today, we can celebrate this amazing investment made possible by Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula, State Senator Anna Cabellero, and Governor Gavin Newsome.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the critical need for equitable access to green space and parks. This funding will support expanding access to the San Joaquin River Parkway for more Central Valley Residents. We are grateful for the leadership of our elected representatives and the many community advocates to provide access for all.

The River Parkway Trust has already begun developing ideas for enhancing operations and maintenance on Conservancy properties throughout the Parkway. We look forward to partnering with the Conservancy to transform our region's crown jewel. Stay tuned for more updates in the weeks and months ahead.
