Hello Nune,
I hope this newsletter finds you well as we welcome the month of May and look forward to summer! We have some exciting updates to share with you from our recent Health Fair, which was a great success thanks to the support of our volunteers and vendors. With the help of 66 volunteers who donated a total of 230 hours of service, and 58 vendors, we were able to provide care for nearly 100 adults and many more children. We welcomed families from far and wide, including West Chester, Batavia, and Mason. Our bilingual volunteers played a vital role in providing translation services to many immigrant families from countries like Honduras, Columbia, Guatemala, Peru, and Mexico.
In light of our commitment to diversity, we are thrilled to announce that Santa Maria will be revamping our annual fundraiser. The event, now called Passport to Success, will celebrate various cultures and will take place on October 5, 2023 from 6-9 p.m. at the Miami Township Event Center in North Bend. We are excited to welcome back Courtis Fuller from WLWT-TV as our emcee for the evening, and thrilled to announce that Dominique Badji of FC Cincinnati will be our special guest speaker. Stay tuned for more details, and please save the date for this exciting event. We look forward to celebrating diversity and community with you!
Since summer is right around the corner, we are also looking ahead to graduation season! This summer, our two early childhood development programs will hold graduations for our littlest clients in Every Child Succeeds (3-year-olds) on June 15, and Promoting Our Preschoolers (5-year-olds) in August. Our Workforce Development program will have close to 30 graduates from our English as a Second Language program, high school equivalency program, and other workforce programs at their ceremony on June 1, featuring special guest speaker and Santa Maria Board Member, Hammad Siddiqi, Vice President at PNC Community Development Banking.
We are so proud of all of our graduates and the hard work they have put in to achieve their goals. We know that they will go on to do great things in their futures, and we are honored to have been a part of their journeys. As we celebrate their achievements, we are also reminded of the importance of the work we do at Santa Maria. Every day, we strive to empower individuals and families to build brighter futures for themselves and their communities. Thank you for your continued support as we work to create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
