A note from Lynne
Staying flexible lately? I’m not talking about yoga.
If there is one thing the COVID-19 pandemic, the recent wildfires and social unrest require, it is flexibility in conducting our altered lives. Our usual routines, social connections and institutions are turned upside down and we need to figure out new ways of living. This requires resilience, the ability to flex and cope with change, which we develop and learn in our earliest experiences.
Resilience is at the core of what we strive for at Parenting Now, to create and support healthy, thriving families who have the resilience and stability to weather these many changes. You will see in this newsletter how Parenting Now is adapting and evolving to reach families in new ways. It’s inspiring and reassuring that we can be successful while we try new things and meet families where they are.
As we move into the last few months of 2020, I wish you all the resilience and steadiness to end the year in health and happiness.

New Look,
Same Great Programming
2020 has been a year of change for so many of us. At Parenting Now, we decided to take the challenge head on by not only diversifying our programming, but also changing our website and logo to better reflect the work we do and the families we serve. Our new website has improved navigation, customized sections for parents, Parenting Educators, and donors.

Staying Connected In A Virtual World
Social connection is vital to all stages of parenting. We need fellow parents to commiserate and share milestones with, ask advice of, or even coordinate play dates and childcare swaps with.
But how do we stay socially connected under this “new normal” of social distancing?

Update From the Development Team
As we look toward the upcoming fall, your ongoing support means more than ever. Parenting Now remains a lifeline for families during this pandemic, and your generosity allows us to continue serving families during these extra challenging times.
Our Shelter-in-Place (SIP) Party was a great success! Thank you to everyone who purchased a SIP Party package and enjoyed Sarver Wine and Euphoria Chocolates with us! At our virtual wine pairing party, we heard from Sarver’s winemaker, David Hook, and indulged in a sweet time — all to benefit Parenting Now and the families that we serve! Thank you to our generous sponsors, Sarver Winery and Euphoria Chocolates!
A big thank you to the McKay Family Foundation for matching $5,000 of donations that we received this summer! This support ensures that local families have the critical resources that they need to weather this time with resilience.
By rising up and supporting us, you have helped raise critical support for our programs, which rewrite families’ stories by giving them the skills, networks, and supports they need to thrive. Thank you!

Whether you refer parents to us, have joined our Sustainer Fund, shop for us on Amazon Smile, have designated us as an eScrip beneficiary, or are one of our steadfast donors, we thank you for your belief in us and our vision to create a world where all children are raised by nurturing, supportive parents.

Volunteer Spotlight:
United Way's Day of Caring
|
On September 24, volunteers with Columbia Bank, PenFed Credit Union, as well as members of the community came to Parenting Now to donate their time during United Way of Lane County's Day of Caring. Volunteers helped us with a variety of projects, including distributing our Resources for Families posters and guides to local schools and agencies; helping paint the atrium; and sprucing up the grounds around the building. Their volunteer support was a tremendous help to all of us at Parenting Now. Thank you for choosing to spend your day volunteering at Parenting Now.
