Tech Dump was the lucky winner of our onsite giveaway at the Celebration of Nonprofits. The money raised from donations is being used to provide mental health services to members of the amazing Tech Dump. They believe that the benefits of therapy are just as integral to a human’s success as a fair chance and a career path. They want their team to continue the progress they’ve made in group and individual therapy.

Shop With Cops

This year, the Shop with Cops program took place at the Western District on December 8th and 9th! Over the two days, hundreds of St. Paul children and families were able to receive gifts, play games, enjoy snacks and make lasting, positive memories with St. Paul police officers.

CDC recommends shorter COVID isolation, quarantine

U.S. health officials on Monday cut isolation restrictions for Americans who catch the coronavirus from 10 to five days, and similarly shortened the time that close contacts need to quarantine. Lear more here.
Get to work on business relief

The state is now flush with cash. In addition to more than $1 billion in unspent federal funds and a $7.7 billion surplus, the state holds more than $2.6 billion in reserves. State spending will increase by 12% in this budget. But if policymakers don't use this historic surplus and existing federal funds to replenish the UI Trust Fund, they would allow employers to be hit with double-digit increases in their UI payroll taxes. Brand New Warming House Now at Urban Growler Brewing Co.


Urban Growler Brewing now has an outdoor event space, The Warming House! Similar to our outdoor tents we had this summer, there is no food and beverage minimum involved. The Warming House can be reserved for $50 per hour. You can choose for guests to order food and beverage off of the regular Taproom menu or you can order catering in advance. 

All of the decor was made here using Rahr Malting grain bags, True Stone Coffee Roasters burlap bags, and flannel fabric scraps. There is an infrared heater inside for warmth, but jackets and appropriate weather gear for the temperature are still recommended.

 Dan Stoltz of SPIRE Credit Union Wins Cooperative Builder Award

The Cooperative Network has announced the 2021 Cooperative Builder Award honorees. Dan Stoltz, President/CEO of SPIRE Credit Union is one of three individuals from Wisconsin and Minnesota to receive this prestigious award. The annual competition honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions at the local, state and/or national level to advance cooperative philosophy and ideals. 
 
Dan has dedicated 27 years of his career to the cooperative movement. After college graduation, Dan took an entry-level job with his alma mater, University of Northwestern, vowing to pay back every cent of money he borrowed to attain his degree. He moved his way up to Vice President/CFO for Business and Finance, and from there was recruited by the Central Purchasing Services cooperative to serve as their Chief Executive Officer (CEO).  
 
Dan’s ideology and support of cooperatives caught the attention of a board member of Central Purchasing Services, who was also a Vice President at Twin Cities Co-op Federal Credit Union (now SPIRE Credit Union). Dan was recruited to join SPIRE as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 1999. In January 2010, Dan became Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and remains in that role today. Dan’s dedication to SPIRE’s strength and vitality has landed the credit union on an unprecedented trajectory of growth.
 
“Under Dan’s leadership, SPIRE continues to excel even in challenging times,” remarked William J. Nelson of Persona, Professional & Organizational Transitions, “ Examples include Dan being chosen as a 2020 Most Admired CEO by the St Paul/Minneapolis Business Journal and SPIRE’s selection as Minneapolis /St. Paul Business Journal’s 2021 “Best Places to Work”; an Energy-Saving Lending award in 2021; multiple Marketing Excellence Awards, and the excellent work done by their foundation and community service efforts.”
 
Mark Cummins, MnCUN President & CEO said, “Dan embodies the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people’ and inspires others through his involvement and passion. Living his personal philosophy that ‘life is about giving, not getting,’ Dan spearheaded the SPIRE Gives Big initiative where $250,000 was donated to 187 local organizations and businesses affected by COVID-19.”
 
“I am humbled and honored to be selected as one of the Cooperative Builder Award recipients,” said Dan Stoltz, “At SPIRE, when one person receives an award, it is shared by and attributed to all 340 SPIRE employees. I am fortunate to have a great team behind the work we do for cooperatives and the credit union industry!” 
SPIRE Credit Union Matching $25,000 in Donations
This Giving Season

SPIRE Credit Union announced today that it would be matching up to $25,000 in donations made by SPIRE members who use NetGiver to give between Giving Tuesday, November 30, and the end of the year.

NetGiver is a donation platform that allows credit union members to give to charitable causes with zero fees to organizations or donors. Other payment platforms can charge in excess of 7.5% of the transaction so charities do not receive the full amount of the donation. 

To qualify for the match, both the member donating and the non-profit must be registered with NetGiver. Registering is easy and completely free. The maximum match per donation is $250.
