Drum Roll...Our Highest Fundraising Auction Ever!
Two great auctions helped Curing Kids Cancer raise more money than ever before!

Brain tumor survivor James with his family at Gone Farmin'.
Just like this entire year, this summer has had its ups and down but our high was very high! Curing Kids Cancer and Mecum Auctions had record breaking auctions!

Let's start in Davenport, Iowa for Mecum Gone Farmin, a biannual tractor auction Curing Kids Cancer attends every year. This year, Mecum customers supported Curing Kids Cancer by raising more than $40,000 for childhood cancer research. It was simply amazing. The generosity, as it always is, was so appreciated. We were thankful to longtime CKC champions like Le Mars Toy Store who donated toy tractors. We also received a pedal tractor and an actual tractor (pictured on the left) too. Again, we cannot thank our donors enough for sharing our heart for cures.

There was a special guest James who made this experience even more meaningful! He is a brain tumor survivor who has come to Mecum Gone Farmin' before. It is always a blessing to have him or any patient family come join us at an auction. Thank you, James, for making our trip to Iowa that much sweeter!

Our next stop on our summer tour was Mecum Auctions Indy! This auction was filled with so many supporters sharing our heart for cures. This auction raised more than $500,000 for childhood cancer research!  This was an auction for the record books. We are thankful to Carl and Karen Kelchen on their donation of the Carl Kelchen Collection, a seven-car collection of red and white 1957 Fords. Please click here if you have not read Mecum Magazine's "CKC for CKC".

Curing Kids Cancer is proud to announce the Carl and Karen Kelchen fund, which will support a specific research project for years to come. This special grant will honor the Kelchens' heart for childhood cancer research.

Another amazing gift, Curing Kids Cancer received at Mecum Indy was a 60th Anniversary
STA-BIL 1958 Chevrolet Apache Pickup. Our amazing friends at Gold Eagle Company (STA-BIL) toured this one-of-a-kind truck all around the country including to two Power Tours!

Thank you to our CKC family who share our heart for cures. These auctions truly made an incredible impact on childhood cancer research this year. We also want to thank childhood cancer warrior Preston for joining us at Mecum Indy. Be sure to stop by the Curing Kids Cancer booth at Mecum Kissimmee at the end of August!
Ride 4 Research: Mission Accomplished!
Donors battled their way to beating this year's goal!

Thank you, Ride 4 Research!
Thank you, Ride 4 Research!
Normally, people would have been pedaling away for cures back in March but COVID-19 had other plans. But don't think for one second that it stopped the Barton family from shattering fundraising records!

For those of you reading the Barton family's story for the first time, it will be hard to wrap your mind around a family having not one but two daughters battle cancer! They have spent nearly 14 years in the childhood cancer "world", first with their eldest daughter Maia's diagnosis and treatment of B-Cell Leukemia in 2006 - 2009 and currently with their middle daughter Ariana's T-Cell Leukemia treatment. It was at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, that the CKC team met the Barton family.

Steve and Alyssa Barton have partnered with Curing Kids Cancer to drive childhood cancer research forward. The $25,000 raised from the 2019 Ride 4 Research directly benefited the work and clinical trials of Dr. Keith August at Children's Mercy hospital in Kansas City, who is studying and evaluating the genes and DNA of children with T-Cell Leukemia to develop a more effective treatment plan for this type of cancer like Ariana has.

This year many Ride 4 Research warriors banned together to exercise, safely and from a distance to raise money for crucial research. Whether it was a TRX class or spin class outside or a 100 mile bike ride, Ride 4 Research supporters dominated it! Congratulations to everyone involved on raising more than $52,000! Stay tuned in coming months as we learn what project this event will support in 2020.
And the Fire Truck Pull is On!
This year it does not matter your location, so why not pull for a child you know?

Curing Kids Cancer is thankful for the loyalty of our teams and donors as we navigate fundraising events during COVID-19. We have made the decision to change the format of the Fire Truck Pull to a virtual event. So this has left many wondering, how can I win a fire truck pull where I cannot pull a fire truck? Well lucky for you, there are four different ways to win!
The Virtual Fire Truck Pull 2020
The Virtual Fire Truck Pull 2020

1. Overall Top Fundraising Team: This is the team that has raised the most money from the time of registration through the end of day on Thursday, August 27th. The top four overall fundraising teams will receive a small fundraising advantage in the official Fire Truck Pull weekend competition.

This competition will take place on Curing Kids Cancer's Facebook Page from August 25-27. The team with the most liked photo will win a small fundraising advantage in the official Fire Truck Pull weekend competition. (Teams must submit photo entries to abigail@curingkidscancer.org by the end of day on August 24th to compete)
