Dear (Contact First Name),

We hope this e-mail finds you in good health.

Yesterday's incident at the Boston Marathon has left us shocked and saddened as it was such a senseless act. The Boston Marathon is an incredible event packed with tons of history, impeccable support and prestige. I have had the fortune of running the marathon and like many of you, know of several athletes who made the trek to compete. The BAA puts on a top-notch event that oozes with professionalism and detail at each and every mile. We can only imagine that they, too, are in disbelief.  In the wake of yesterday's tragedy, we at ACOP would like to send a message of solidarity and support to the running community. Prior to the start of the Capital City Classic race this Sunday (which will proceed as planned), we hope you will join us in a moment of silence prior to our 8:00 AM start.

We are proud to be part of the running/walking community, as both runners and well as race organizers. We are humbled by the grace with which the organizers handled the incident, the bravery of the first responders, the wisdom of the medical staff and the spirit of the runners. We are inspired by these acts of heroism on what was turned into a dark day. We will not, however, let either our passion for running nor our efforts to organize events be dampened by cowardly attacks on the innocent.

The below e-mail (planned for yesterday afternoon) outlines the course highlights and previews Sunday's Capital City Classic.

With Warm Regards,

Dave Miramontes

A COURSE LIKE NO OTHER
Every now and then there comes a race course which is not duplicated by any other event. That is the case with our 10K and 10 Mile course. You could almost describe them as the "Sacramento Bridge Run" as both the 10K and 10 Mile cross Downtown Sacramento's two iconic bridges, the Tower Bridge and the "I" Street bridge.

The courses will all be well supported, with fluid stations located every two miles. PowerGel will be available on the 10 Mile course at miles 4.75 and 6.75.

Our photo preview below outlines just a small portion of the sights to be seen on Sunday.
