In "The Play", Rocky Bleier tells his heroic story.
A four-time Super Bowl champion and native son of Appleton, Rocky Bleier brings his
astonishing life story to the stage in his one-man show, The Play. Directed by Scott C. Wise and
written by Gene Collier, The Play takes audiences to three bars from Rocky’s life — including
the one owned by his father in Appleton — where he tells stories of family, war, and the best of
Steeler Nation. This heartfelt and inspiring memoir is perfect for sports fans of all ages: older
audiences will remember terrible times on battlefields and joyous days on football fields, and
through Rocky’s performance, a new generation will be vividly introduced to this era of grit and
glory.
Rocky Bleier graduated in 1968 from the University of Notre Dame winning the 1966 National Championship.
He was drafted by the NFL Steelers shortly after graduation and then was drafted again by the US Army.
