CAMI Featured on Federal News Network "Ask the CIO"

CAMI’s Board Chairman Stan Soloway and Rep. John Faso joined Federal News Network’s “Ask the CIO” with host Jason Miller to discuss CAMI’s exclusive national survey results and the need for innovation and flexibility in the state/county administration of benefits.

Mr. Soloway and Rep. Faso preview a changing landscape, where recent policy shifts push more administrative burden to states while reducing federal administrative support. However, federal leadership remains essential to set policy, enable flexibility (e.g., contracting limits in programs like Medicaid and SNAP), invest in technology, and break down program silos.

ICYMI: SURVEY KEY FINDINGS

➔ Americans want better service, not bigger government, which means there is strong bipartisan support for integrating more AI into government agency services provided it makes agencies more efficient. 48% support vs 29% oppose using AI tools.

➔ Work requirements have broad support - 58% support vs 26% oppose.

The majority of Americans believe that the government should make sure Medicaid beneficiaries are working or acquiring the skills to enter the workforce.

➔ Americans are aware that community engagement requirements present a new challenge for state governments. Only 41% believe states are ready to implement the requirements

Polling shows that the public generally respects government workers but sees services as inefficient, and citizens and beneficiaries have strong concerns about access barriers and states’ readiness for implementation of the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB).

“What was very clear from the survey…the public actually has faith in public employees. The public also fully recognizes that the system itself is not serving them well.”

-Stan Soloway, CAMI Board Chair
