The Ann Bancroft Foundation (ABF) is proud to announce it has named Ethelind Kaba the new Executive Director of the non-profit organization. Since 1997, ABF has awarded more than $2 million to 5,200 Minnesota girls in grades K-12. The grants are used to help fund a wide range of activities and passions, providing young Minnesota girls opportunities they may never think existed.
"Ethelind stood out, among many qualified candidates, because of her broad and diverse background, commitment to community, and successful fundraising experience,” says Jackie Hartman, Ann Bancroft Foundation Board Chair. “She is also a collaborator and has a dynamic history of building strong teams and cultures."
As Executive Director, Ethelind will serve as a champion for ABF’s mission to make life-changing opportunities available to all girls in Minnesota. She is responsible for strategic direction, maintaining strong community partnerships, expanding the reach of ABF, working closely with the board of directors and staff to raise the annual budget and managing the financial operations.
"I'm energized by the work we will do together to fulfill our mission of girls realizing their potential and unleashing the power we know they have,” Ethelind says.
As a seasoned communicator and connector, Ethelind brings almost two decades of experience raising awareness of urgent social issues to mobilize support and drive action. Prior to ABF, Ethelind served as Vice President, External Affairs for the Center for Economic Inclusion where she oversaw strategic marketing campaigns, communications, development and influence strategies to advance the Center’s work of disrupting systems to advance an inclusive economy.
Ethelind also serves as Secretary of the board of The Jeremiah Program, a nationwide organization dedicated to transforming the lives of low-income single mothers and their children. Additionally, she lends her expertise on various organizational committees and boards, including Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, Edina Public Schools Legislative Action Committee and TPT Community Resiliency Advisory Council. Ethelind also previously founded The Stargirl Initiative, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering teen and tween girls, for which she was named a Changemaker by MN Women’s Press.
Ethelind holds a B.A. in Legal Studies from Hamline University, a Policy Fellowship from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota and is close to completion of an M.A. in Strategic Communication at the Hubbard School of Journalism at the University of Minnesota.

The Ann Bancroft Foundation (www.annbancroftfoundation.org) supports girls to realize their highest dreams and potential. ABF exemplifies the spirit of explorer and educator, Ann Bancroft, whose leadership and personal and historic achievements have inspired all people to take on new challenges. Bancroft organized and led the first-known all-woman expedition to Antarctica, becoming the first woman to reach both Poles across the ice. In 2001 Bancroft and Norwegian Liv Arnesen became the first women in history to cross Antarctica’s landmass.
