4Q25 | IN THIS ISSUE: Why partner-driven leadership is here to stay, how best to attract and retain next-gen leaders, the art of retirement, executive coaching and more.

A season of gratitude

As we wrap up our tenth year at BroadView Talent Partners, we’re reflecting on one thing above all else: gratitude. We're grateful for every client who trusted us, every candidate who partnered with us, and every relationship that helped make 2025 a year defined by meaningful placements and lasting impact. We don’t take your business for granted!

That's why we've explored why the era of partnership-driven leadership is here to stay—and what it means for how executives show up, collaborate, and drive organizational outcomes. It’s a shift that’s redefining effectiveness in the C-Suite, requiring leaders to lean into connection, humility, and shared accountability like never before.

We also take a close look at how all organizationsparticularly nonprofits can attract and retain next-generation leaders, as expectations for purpose, balance, and growth continue to shift. These emerging leaders are redefining what they want from employers, and organizations that adapt will be best positioned to build strong, future-ready teams.

And in our latest podcast episodes, we dive into two themes resonating deeply with leaders right now: the value of executive coaching in helping leaders show up as their best selves, and the rise of rewirement, where retirement becomes a new chapter of purpose rather than an endpoint.

As we wrap up this year and head into a new one we’re looking forward to continuing to be your trusted partner—now and in all the meaningful work ahead.

We wish you and yours a joyful holiday season filled with warmth, rest, and meaningful connections.

Warmly,

Tracy McMillan

The era of partnership-driven leadership

By Tracy McMillan, CEO & Managing Partner

For a long time, leadership was framed around individual strength—vision, decisiveness, and the ability to “own the room.” But work has changed. The challenges leaders face have changed. And today, even the most talented executive can only be effective within a strong network of relationships. No leader operates as an island anymore, because no organization exists in isolation.

Partnership has become a defining leadership competency—one grounded in humility, curiosity, and the awareness that complex problems require shared solutions. It’s not a soft skill. It’s a strategic function of the modern C-Suite.

Interdependence as an advantage

Organizations are increasingly interconnected. Decisions in one area ripple quickly across teams, stakeholders, and communities.

In episode three of C-Suite Elevated, host Tracy MacMillan dives into a fascinating and increasingly relevant topic: "rewirement," or the art of slowing down gradually to ease into retirement. His guest for this conversation is Harold T. Epps who serves as a Senior Advisor at both Diversified Search Group Global and Bellevue Strategies. ▶️🎧Listen now.

In our fourth episode, Christie Angel is joined by the powerhouse coaching duo behind Gordon Hewes: Joi Gordon and Vicki Bowen Hewes. Together, they support executive leaders in showing up as their very best selves. ▶️🎧Hit play.

An evening of gratitude + connection

Ahead of the holiday bustle, we came together at the Gateway Film Center in Columbus, Ohio for reflection, connection, and genuine appreciation. Grateful to all the clients, candidates, and friends who contributed to such a wonderful evening!

Attracting + retaining next-gen leaders

At 2 AM, a board chair called in frustration: their third executive-director finalist in six months had just withdrawn. “Compensation was competitive, mission inspiring,” she said, “but something about our culture just didn’t feel right.”

This scene is replaying across organizations, particularly in nonprofit boardrooms from affordable housing and CDFIs to arts and other human service organizations. Posting a mission-driven job and expecting passion to fill the gaps no longer works. As Baby Boomers retire and X-Gens proliferate, Millennials and Gen Z leaders are redefining careers, and those who don’t adjust risk irrelevance.

Applauding our newly placed leaders
