2Q25 | IN THIS ISSUE: How new partnerships are expanding middle-market excellence and why our human intelligence and trusted networks remain more important than ever. Plus, our newest team member hits the ground running.

Happy Spring

As the season ushers in fresh energy, we're taking a moment to reflect — on the momentum we’ve built, the opportunities ahead, and the discipline required to stay the course.

Within the nonprofit sector, we’re observing a significant trend. An increasing number of them are considering mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, or other partnerships. This strategic move reflects a proactive approach to both better serve their communities and ensure long-term sustainability.

Good partnerships matter, including two new alliances we’ve developed with the National Association of Investment Companies (NAIC) and Aeriis Insights Group. Partnering with NAIC allows us to serve as the exclusive executive search provider for the largest association of diverse-owned alternative investment firms in the U.S.

Meanwhile, our partnership with Aeriis creates opportunity to enhance our executive coaching services, helping clients and candidates alike navigate the search process with clarity and confidence.

This is important, particularly because some candidates have learned to be performative interviewers, but these pretenders do not last. It’s why we remain fiercely committed to protecting our clients by conducting both formal and informal referencing during every search.

Learn why our human intelligence and trusted networks remain more important than ever.

The demand for thoughtful, innovative, high-impact leadership has never been greater — and we’re ready to meet it.

Warmly,

Tracy McMillan

Contenders vs. Pretenders: The Importance of Backchannel Referencing

By Tracy McMillan, CEO & Managing Partner

Every organization deserves a leader who can deliver — not just impress in an interview. The reality, however, is that some candidates have mastered the art of performance. Since March of 2020, we’ve observed an increasing number of leaders who have mastered the Zoom or Teams interview process. Nowadays, we also must be aware of how leaders may use AI tools to bolster their experience profiles.

These leaders are charismatic, articulate, and highly skilled communicators who usually make it to the final round interview stage of our search processes.

AFFILIATED MEMBER & ESTEEMED PRESENTER

Healthy partnerships aren’t just important — they’re essential.

We’re excited to share the news of two strategic collaborations that will deepen our firm’s impact and broaden its reach, while enhancing the experience and opportunities for both clients and candidates.
