2021 Executive Trustee Election 
This fall, IMRF employers will elect one Executive Trustee for a five-year term of office, from January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2026.

You can run for Executive Trustee if you:

  • Are employed by a participating governmental unit as chief executive officer, chief finance officer, or other officer, executive, or department head.
  • Are an active and vested IMRF member (not including reciprocal service) as of December 31, 2021.
  • Gain the nomination of at least three IMRF employers, each of whom must submit a nominating petition to IMRF.

Nominating petitions are accepted between August 1 and September 15 of the election year.

Please Complete Employer Survey by July 16
Earlier this week, you received an email with a link to complete the next employer survey. Please complete the survey by July 16. The survey asks you about the GASB 50 Statement. Completing the survey should take no more than five minutes.

Encourage Members to Sign up for Member Access
Please encourage your employees to register for IMRF Member Access accounts.

Download a flyer you can share with employees explaining the benefits of a Member Access account.

This short video walks employees through the steps to register for a Member Access account and shows them how to view their Member Statements.
IMRF Employer-Only Phone Number
To provide our employers with the highest level of customer service, please do not give out the employer-only 1-800 number (1-800-728-7971) to members. When members call the employer number, it increases wait times for employers.

For the best member customer service, please have them contact IMRF at the member phone number: 1-800-ASK-IMRF (275-4673) Mon-Fri, 7:30 AM-5:30 PM.
Voluntary Additional Contributions Form
Please only submit the 2019 version of IMRF Form 6.30, “Election to Make or Change Voluntary Additional Contributions.” The 2019 version of IMRF Form 6.30 only accepts voluntary additional elections made as a percentage of pay. IMRF will reject older versions of IMRF Form 6.30, which allowed voluntary additional elections made as a flat dollar amount.

What are Voluntary Additional Contributions?
IMRF's Voluntary Additional Contributions (VAC) program is a way to help members save additional retirement income. With this program members can choose to make additional, after-tax contributions to an individual VAC account that earns interest.

Employer Cost and Participation Information
The Illinois Pension Code requires IMRF to post certain employer cost and participation reports on its website. IMRF will update these reports annually. 

  • Employer Contribution Amounts: The amount of employer contributions each employer made from 1/1/1995 to present (searchable spreadsheet)
  • Employer Contribution Rates: Each employer’s contribution rates for the current year and one year after (searchable spreadsheet)
  • Participating Employers: A list of all employers and the date each employer joined IMRF (searchable spreadsheet)
  • Employer Resolutions: Required participation resolutions for employers that joined on or after 1/1/1995 (searchable PDF)

IMRF employers that have a website must include a link to the employer cost and participation reports page
