Human service, child welfare, mental health, and addiction providers are beginning to lift restrictions that have been in place for over a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether your organization is considering or resuming in-person therapy, in-person or home visitation, off-campus outings or re-opening drop-in centers, here are some steps to consider:

  • Consult with federal agencies and your state public health department for guidelines related to your organization’s types of services/programs: CDC, OSHA and your state public health department.

  • Call and meet with your local public health department staff.

  • Check with your licensing representative.

  • Review your accrediting body’s applicable standards. Note - The Joint Commission’s infection prevention/control standards for organizations to facilitate staff receiving influenza vaccination emphasize education and accessibility and can offer guidance in addressing staff COVID-19 vaccination.

  • Network with other members of national/state associations affiliated with your organization. For example - The National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) has monthly roundtable discussions of timely issues/concerns-and lifting COVID-19 restrictions that were recently raised.

  • Reach out to other providers of similar services/programs.

"I can honestly state that we would not have been able to pull off being accredited without the support and guidance from our consultant. AG not only provided the leadership and support, they became part of the GWHA family. One of the best decisions we've made in years was to bring on AG to help us through accreditation."
