Tour of the Thaw Conservation Center and the Exterior Restoration and Gardens

Tuesday, June 13 at 6:30PM
The Morgan Library and Museum

Join us for a special behind-the-scenes tour led by Cooper alumni Sam Anderson AR'82, Edward Gormley AR’90, and Jon Maass AR'97.

Sam Anderson AR’82 and Edward Gormley AR’90, from Samuel Anderson Architects, designed the Thaw Conservation Center at The Morgan. The center is a world-class conservation lab where the museum's collection is studied and preserved. Maria Fredericks, the Sherman Fairchild Head of the Thaw Conservation Center, will also be part of the tour. The center is located in the historic Morgan House.

Jon Maass AR’97 was the Owner's Representative and Project Manager for the exterior restoration of J. Pierpont Morgan’s Library, which is considered one of the finest examples of Neoclassical architecture in the United States. He was also involved in enhancing the Gardens surrounding the library, allowing visitor access for the first time in the museum's history. The landscape designer Todd Longstaffe-Gowan contributed to the enhancements.

Please register here. Registration is required.

$30 registration fee includes tour and cost of museum admission.

SUMMER PROGRAMS DEADLINES APPROACHING

Introduction to Architecture Online: Foundation Studies and Portfolio Development Programs

ENROLLMENT DEADLINE IS WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14.

Apply Online Live Information Session | Send Inquiries Here

High School Program Dates: July 5 - August 8, 2023

College Program Dates: July 5 - August 2, 2023

Our upcoming summer intensive program features a virtual curriculum accessible to high school and college students worldwide. As an institution that is committed to the pursuit of excellence and learning, we view the various forms of online engagement, digital interface, virtual modeling and representation techniques as an opportunity to advance our outreach efforts and prepare students to apply to a broad range of programs focused on digital design platforms. The pleasure of making and experimentation are fundamental to our discovery of architecture and the innovation of the discipline, as well as a deeply thoughtful form of social and cultural dialogue where relational imaginaries become possible.

Applications are currently open. This coming week offers the last opportunity to apply and enroll.

A limited number of financial aid scholarships are available for promising New York City public school students from under-represented communities. Scholarship applications are considered along with a teacher or guidance counselor referral, please inquire for details.

You may watch our public Live Information Session to get an overview of the program's curriculum, pedagogy, and focus. The video features examples of former participants' work and presentations by faculty and staff.

Please direct all questions and concerns to architecture.summer@cooper.edu.
