Construction Update
Exit 16 DDI
DATE: Friday, March 10, 2023

TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION:
Crews will be onsite, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Traffic impacts will be restricted to the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Single lane closures in both directions along U.S. Route 2/7 (U.S. 2/7) will be in effect throughout the week as crews conduct work between South Park Road and Mountain View Drive. Only one lane will be closed in each direction at any time. The specific lane closures will vary throughout the week. In addition, there will be lane width reductions along the Interstate 89 (I-89) southbound offramp on the west side of U.S. 2/7. The I-89 ramps will remain open.

Traffic patterns will vary throughout the week. Motorists are reminded to slow down, stay alert, and follow construction signage within the work zone. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
Next week, crews will continue mechanically removing ledge and other materials from behind the bridge pier on the west side of the interstate bridges over U.S. 2/7 to facilitate the installation of the retaining wall. This work will require lane width reductions along the I-89 southbound offramp and intermittent closures of the outermost southbound travel lane.

The sawcutting of trench lines for the installation of new drainage infrastructure will continue throughout the week. The blasting subcontractor, Maine Drilling and Blasting (MDB) will be onsite continuing investigatory work for future blasting activities. MDB will continue boring (drilling holes into the ground) on U.S. 2/7 at locations along the new future waterline and utility duct bank to determine the location of ledge beneath the roadway surface. Sawcutting and boring work will take place between South Park Drive and Mountain View Drive. This work will be completed under single lane closures in both directions along U.S. 2/7.
Crews continue to remove earth material to facilitate the installation of the retaining wall along the west side of U.S. 2/7.
LOCATION: U.S. Routes 2/7 (U.S. 2/7) in Colchester starting at the Winooski town line and continuing north for 1.05 miles to Sunderland Woods Road.
