Exit 16 DDI

TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION: From Monday, October 27, through Friday, October 31, between 6 AM and 3 PM, U.S. 2/7 will have a lane closure along the east side of the roadway between South Park Drive and the I-89 southbound on-ramp (near the Shell Gas Station) and just north of Hercules Drive (near Lucky’s Trailer Supplies) for drainage work. Throughout the week, U.S. 2/7 will have a lane closure along the west side of the roadway between the I-89 northbound on-ramp and Mountain View Drive, U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and Mountain View Drive and all intersecting sideroads will be shut down for approximately 10 minutes, and rolling roadblocks will be initiated on I-89 between Exits 14 and 17 for each blasting event. Motorists should expect significant delays when traveling through the work zone and along adjacent roadways. Please plan ahead, leaving plenty of additional time to get to and from your destination. Whenever possible, consider alternate routes or other forms of transportation such as carpooling, ridesharing, transit, biking, or walking. Drivers should slow down, use caution, and follow flaggers and road signs.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Next week, crews will continue drainage work for the dry ponds being constructed on the east side of U.S. 2/7 near the I-89 southbound on-ramp and on U.S. 2/7 just north of Hercules Drive. Blasting events will continue to take place along U.S. 2/7 between Mountain View Drive and the I-89 northbound on-ramp, near the CVS Pharmacy.

Crews continue to construct the drainage ponds along U.S. 2/7 and the I-89 southbound on-ramp.

LOCATION: U.S. Routes 2/7 in Colchester starting at the Winooski town line and continuing north for 1.05 miles to Sunderland Woods Road.

PROJECT COMPLETION: Contract 1: Fall 2023 | Contract 2: Summer 2027

  • Project Area: I-89 Exit 17, U.S. 7 between the Shell Gas Station and Wiley Road, U.S. 2 between Chimney Corner and Jasper Mine Road
  • Next week: At night, crews will install permanent line striping and pavement markings on I-89 northbound and southbound near Exit 17, as well as U.S. 2 and U.S. 7. Daytime work will include traffic signal wiring and signage installation on U.S. 2 and U.S. 7, and general clean up and punch list items throughout the project area.
  • Traffic Impacts: Sunday – Friday, 8 PM – 6 AM | Lane reductions on I-89 near Exit 17. Single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic on U.S. 2 and U.S. 7.

City of Winooski Main Street Revitalization Project

  • Project Area: Main Street in Winooski, between the railroad bridge near Maple Street and the Colchester town line near Checkerbay Carwash
  • Next week: Crews will install permanent pavement markings and signage on Main Street between Maple and Stevens Streets, construct sidewalks and install structural soil and streetlights between Stevens and Bellevue Streets, and continue conduit work on Tigan Street between Weaver and Main Streets.
  • Traffic Impacts: Monday – Friday, 7 AM to 7 PM | Main Street restricted to northbound traffic only; Southbound traffic detoured to Tigan Street and Weaver Street. Intermittent side street closures along Main Street between Maple and Tigan Streets. Tigan Street may be restricted to westbound traffic only between Weaver and Main Streets.

Translated Materials

VTrans is committed to providing a comprehensive and robust communications and public outreach program as part of this project. 


The project website has been upgraded to include a translation feature with the ability to automatically translate website content into 11 languages. 


In addition, the website is now home to a translated materials tab which includes several frequently asked questions and answers that have been translated into 11 languages with help from trained interpreters and translators from AALV in Burlington, Vermont.
