Exit 16 DDI
DATE: Friday, March 3, 2023

TRAFFIC IMPACT AND DURATION:
Crews will be onsite, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Traffic impacts will be restricted to the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Crews will continue working along the west side of Routes 2/7 (U.S. 2/7). This work will require the closure of the outermost southbound lane on U.S. 2/7. In addition, lane width reductions along the I-89 northbound onramp and southbound offramp on the west side of U.S. 2/7 will be in effect. The I-89 ramps will remain open.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:
Crews will continue mechanically removing ledge or other materials from behind the bridge pier on the west side of the interstate bridges over U.S. 2/7 to facilitate the installation of the retaining wall. In addition, crews will continue sawcutting trench lines for the installation of new drainage infrastructure. The blasting subcontractor, Maine Drilling and Blasting (MDB), will be onsite conducting investigatory work for future blasting activities. MDB will be boring (drilling holes into the ground) along the west side of U.S. 2/7 in the location of the new future waterline (between Whitcomb Street and Mountain View Drive) to determine the location of ledge beneath the roadway surface. This work will be completed under lane closure of the outer southbound travel lane and lane width reductions of the I-89 northbound onramp and southbound offramp.
Crews continue to remove earth material to facilitate the installation of the retaining wall along the west side of U.S. 2/7.
LOCATION: U.S. Routes 2/7 (U.S. 2/7) in Colchester starting at the Winooski town line and continuing north for 1.05 miles to Sunderland Woods Road.
