Porlock Marsh Boardwalk

Have you tried out our brand-new boardwalk at Porlock Marsh, helping to improve accessibility and protect local nature? The boardwalk was made possible by the generous support of ‘The Best of Exmoor’, donating to CareMoor for Exmoor

with match funding from the South West Coast Path Association.

National Park Ambassadors Amplify Youth Voice in Westminster

Some of our young team members represented the next generation of National Park leaders at the New Perspectives on National Parks event in Westminster. This high-profile reception, brought together MPs, youth ambassadors, and National Park advocates to explore how Parliament can help build a strong future for these treasured landscapes. Youth campaigners have been working closely with Defra to develop a Youth Voice Declaration, signed by Nature Minister Mary Creagh and other attendees. This declaration commits National Park Authorities to making National Parks greener, wilder, and more accessible to all, ensuring that young people are actively involved in shaping their future.

Farming in Protected Landscapes

We’re delighted that Farming in Protected Landscapes funding (FiPl) has now been extended until 2029.

Anyone who manages land on Exmoor can now apply for funding, for one-off projects that support National Park purposes.

Exmoor has a proud and unique farming heritage where many farmers are passionate about wildlife and sustainability. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs DEFRA is extending its funding for the (FiPL) ‘programme’ for another three years with funding for Exmoor related projects granted until March 2029.

A dedicated FiPL team with Exmoor National Park Authority (ENPA) administer this scheme. The team members are farmers themselves and can offer support and advice to applicants.

Volunteering

Here on Exmoor we're really lucky to have a team of people who work with us to help look after this amazing place, and help people enjoy and understand it.  From practical conservation to research, leading guided walks to undertaking wildlife surveys, there are voluntary opportunities for everyone. In return, volunteers have access to support and training, and the chance to develop skills.

Interested in volunteering?

Come chat to us at our volunteer information event on Thursday 12 February in Green Lanes Shopping Centre, Barnstaple at 11am.

Exmoor Heritage

Thank you to everyone who has been getting involved in exploring Exmoor's past and sending us sites via our interactive 'Living Landscapes' Lidar Portal.

You've already nominated 51 spots in the National Park for further research into potential hidden heritage. We'll keep you posted on the results.

Using remote sensing technology, this community-powered initiative invites volunteers, schools and local groups to explore lost settlements, trackways, and field systems.

Exmoor Festivals

Exclusive sponsorship opportunities have been announced for iconic 2026 Festivals.

We are inviting businesses to take centre stage, as headline sponsors for two of the area’s most celebrated events in 2026:

The Exmoor Nature Festival (16 –31 May)

and the Tenth Annual Exmoor Dark Skies Festival (16 October – 1 November)

These festivals celebrate the very best of Exmoor – from its stunning wildlife to its internationally acclaimed night skies. In Spring, the Nature Festival offers a huge range of wildlife and wellbeing-related experiences over two weeks, including bird walks, wild swimming, family fun days and art workshops. In Autumn, the Dark Skies Festival showcases over 60 events in Europe’s first International Dark Sky Reserve featuring everything from stargazing and astro-photography to planetariums and nocturnal wildlife walks.
