IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Boys & Girls Club Families,

If Newton Public Schools close due to a strike on Friday January 19th, to support working families the John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club of Newton will immediately begin providing expanded drop-in service to Club Members during the traditional workday.

There will be no additional charge to attend this temporary program beyond the membership fee and service is expected to continue for the duration of the strike. The program will group children together by grade and will feature a balanced mix of Athletic, Artistic, Educational, and Recreational activities using all areas of the Club. We do this as a courtesy to the many families who count on the Boys & Girls Club to help meet their childcare needs.

Expanded program hours will be offered on weekdays:

9 AM to 6 PM

Members in good standing may visit the Club daily for drop-in activity without advanced reservation until the full capacity of our facility is reached. Please note that WITH THE EXCEPTION OF BASKETBALL, evening activities will be on hiatus while this morning schedule will be in effect. All Basketball games and practices will be held as scheduled.

All members must bring the following items daily:

Bagged lunch

Healthy Snacks

Water

Sneakers

As the situation continues to evolve and demand for services becomes more clear, we will share a more detailed schedule of activities for each grade and for the different areas of the Club.  If you have suggestions, questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me using the contact information below.

Respectfully,

Frank Ponceano
