Hunterdon Health Department Distributes Hundreds Of Covid-19 Test Kits Via Drive Thru   Test Kits Also Allocated To Food Pantries In County More Testing Resources To Be Announced

Board of Commissioners Deputy Director, Zach Rich, participated in the distribution process last Saturday, placing test kit boxes in the vehicles of residents rolling through the line at the County’s HazMat drive through.   Rich said, “Vehicles were lined up before 8 am for the 9 am opening, but the line of vehicles moved very quickly. Thanks to the allocation from the state, the Health Department had a sufficient number of test kits available to meet the demand.   The whole operation ran very smoothly, and residents appeared appreciative of receiving the test kits. Special recognition is due to the Health Department and Emergency Management staffs and the Sheriff’s Officers who participated and helped to make it a positive experience on a Saturday morning.” Click here to read the full story

Alert! NJ Tax Break Expands For Seniors   Hunterdon Officials Are Alerting Seniors To Expanded State Income Tax Break

Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners Director John E. Lanza and Deputy Director Zach Rich were joined by Sheriff Fred W. Brown and County Clerk Mary Melfi to kick off a public information campaign alerting Hunterdon County taxpayers over the age of 62 that they may qualify for an expanded state income tax break when filing their 2021 taxes.   Lanza said, “This information effort, called Alert! NJ Tax Break Expands For Seniors, has the full support of all the Commissioners. It is necessary because the state has done little to advertise the expanded retirement exclusion tax break that will appear on the 2021 state income tax form and can provide a significant tax savings for seniors who qualify.   The program, which allows pension and other investment income to be excluded from taxation for some seniors, is designed to allow retirees to keep more of their retirement income and encourage them to stay here in New Jersey.” Click here to read the full story

Hunterdon Commissioners Approve Major Grant Funding To Keep ‘Wheels’ Turning   Six Meals On Wheels Programs Funded For Next Three Years

Meals On Wheels Hunterdon, an invaluable service for homebound seniors which delivers over 30,000 meals annually, was approved for major grant funding for a three-year period by the Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners, at the January 18th meeting.   Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners Director John E. Lanza said, “The Meals on Wheels program has functioned throughout the pandemic, which has not been an easy feat. Homebound individuals rely upon this service and could not maintain their lives without volunteers who bring hot, nutritious meals to their front door.” Click here to read more
