Screening & Diagnostic Services Fund Expands to Central VA through partnership with VCU Health

We are excited to announce the expansion of our Screening & Diagnostic Services Fund to the Central Virginia area. This crucial fund is now available to help individuals access life-saving breast health services like diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, MRIs, and biopsies without facing out-of-pocket costs. Our partnership with VCU Health means that uninsured and underinsured residents in central Virginia with incomes up to 400% of the Federal Poverty Level can now receive the follow-up diagnostic care they need after an abnormal screening result or if they are experiencing symptoms.

For many, the high cost of follow-up diagnostic services can be a barrier to timely breast cancer care. VBCF wants to ensure that no one in Virginia has to choose between their health and finances.

If you or someone you know needs help accessing breast health services, visit www.vbcf.org/help for more information, including FAQs and contact details for accessing the fund.

Take a deeper dive into the pressing issue that led to the creation of our Screening and Diagnostic Services Fund in this insightful blog post by VBCF Board Member Dr. Priti Shah. Learn how financial barriers are preventing timely breast cancer diagnosis for many patients and how VBCF is tackling these challenges at the state level through advocacy, including support for critical legislation aimed at eliminating out-of-pocket costs for diagnostic imaging. Discover how you can be part of this essential push for equitable breast cancer care.
