We are pleased to announce that The Asclepius Initiative has received a new grant from the Kentucky Department for Public Health to continue our health care coverage literacy project through May 31, 2026.

With the first grant, which ended in May 2024, we created clear, user-friendly materials to help Kentuckians obtain and navigate health care coverage, distributed these resources to communities throughout the state, and reached thousands of individuals who needed health care coverage support. This work addressed a critical need, as TAI’s 2022 survey found that two-thirds of insured Kentuckians reported delaying or forgoing care due to cost.

Building on this success, we’re excited to expand our collaboration to ten community partners in the next phase of this project, including five returning organizations. These partners will play a vital role in reaching underserved populations and helping deliver impactful, accessible information. They are:

In addition to disseminating health care coverage education through our partners, we will offer presentations directly to social services organizations for the benefit of their clientele. These tailored informational sessions will ensure the resources we provide are meeting the unique needs of the diverse communities we serve.

This continued effort reflects our mission to empower Kentuckians with the knowledge and confidence to access affordable, equitable, high-quality health care. We are grateful to the Kentucky Department for Public Health for its ongoing support and look forward to sharing updates as we move forward.

In case you missed it, TAI founder and CEO Dr. Susan Bornstein recently shared a compelling op-ed featured in the Louisville Courier Journal and the Kentucky Lantern.

The piece describes the urgent need for universal health care in the U.S., highlighting the challenges many individuals face in accessing and affording care. Be sure to check it out and join the conversation about creating a more equitable and effective health care financing system.
