Dear friends and neighbors,
This week, we received great news that Central Florida will receive over $3 billion to help fix the traffic. Thanks in part to the American Rescue Plan and our new Infrastructure Law, our district will receive over $2 billion for an I-4 lane expansion from Osceola Parkway to U.S. 27 and over $1.3 billion for the Poinciana Parkway Connector from C.R. 532 to S.R. 429.
We're also thrilled to announce that the Department of Education has distributed $500,000 to the University of Central Florida's Puerto Rico Research Hub from our FY23 Community Project Funding request. We're excited to see them continue to do critical economic, cultural, and demographic research on the Central Florida Puerto Rican diaspora, as well as provide unique student learning experiences.
In Washington, D.C., I led a Congressional Hispanic Caucus roundtable with Members, USDA and Department of Education representatives, and stakeholders to discuss issues impacting the upcoming Farm Bill for Latinos. We are committed to ensuring Latinos are heard and advocated for.
In addition, our office proudly supported the re-introduction of the Equality Act to strengthen protections for LGBTQ+ people, women, people of color, and religious minorities. It’s long past time we make the Equality Act the law of the land.
I'm proud of all we accomplished this week and look forward to continuing our work to protect Central Florida.

On Monday, we observed Juneteenth — a pivotal moment of freedom in our nation’s history. This day is a recognition of the progress we have made and the work we must do to make good on our nation’s promise of liberty and justice for all. Last week, we held a roundtable in Kissimmee with the White House Initiative on Black Americans and local leaders.

FILE BY AUGUST 10: PACT Act Resources for Veterans

|
Toxic-exposed veterans in Central Florida deserve to access all their rightfully earned benefits without issue.
Veterans are encouraged to file claims by August 10 to have their benefits, if granted, backdated to August 10, 2022 — the day that President Biden signed the bill into law.
For more information, visit VA.gov/PACT or call 1-800-698-2411.
