We are proud to deliver funds for FL-9 that in part come from our American Rescue Plan and new Infrastructure Law. The I-4 Beyond the Ultimate Project will receive over $2 billion for a lane expansion from Osceola Parkway to U.S. 27.

We also secured over $1.3 billion for the Poinciana Parkway Connector from C.R. 532 to S.R. 429 funded in part by the American Rescue Plan and new Infrastructure Law.

We're proud that the Department of Education has awarded $500,000 to the Puerto Rico Research Hub. These funds are part of our FY23 Community Project Funding requests. We're excited to see them continue to do critical economic, cultural, and demographic research on the Central Florida Puerto Rican diaspora, as well as provide unique student learning experiences.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus hosted a roundtable with Members, USDA and Department of Energy representatives, and stakeholders to discuss issues impacting the upcoming Farm Bill for Latinos. We are committed to ensuring Latinos are heard and that we deliver for local ranchers and growers, families in need, food banks, farm workers, and more.

I’m proud to be an original cosponsor of the Equality Act, which was reintroduced this week. This bill strengthens protections for LGBTQ+ people, women, people of color, and religious minorities. It’s long past time we make the Equality Act the law of the land.

It was great to meet with the Chief Liaison between Members of Congress and the Embassy of Japan, Minister Ishigaki Tomoaki. We discussed our passionate support for the bilateral alliance and strong interest in promoting partnerships in space, tourism, microchips, and other vital industries.

Last week, we held a roundtable in Kissimmee with the White House Initiative on Black Americans and local leaders.

We secured an extension of the special health care enrollment period from March 31, 2023, through July 31, 2024 for those affected by the end of pandemic-related Medicaid continuous coverage.

Veterans can now receive no-cost emergency mental health care at VA or non-VA healthcare facilities. Veterans can use this benefit whether or not they are enrolled in the VA system. This new policy will save lives.

Last year, House Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act. This year, millions of seniors will no longer have to ration their insulin because they can’t afford it. Just this week, insulin producer Eli Lilly said they are reducing their price by 70% with a $35 cap.
