Making It Easier to Shop Local, Now & in the Future

On Friday, we announced a program to let visitors and residents know which restaurants were offering pick up and/or delivery. Based on our monitoring of social media, our good-hearted residents also want to help Greater New Haven's restaurants by purchasing gift cards online for future use. We have updated our form to include that information. If your restaurant has already completed the form, you can just send me an email at with the additional information.

Here is the full form for restaurants who would like to be listed on our site:

Towns, chambers of commerce, in fact anyone at all, are welcome to link to our site for restaurant information at We would like to get this information out to as many people as possible.

Not to be outdone, our retailers are also demonstrating initiative in offering curbside pick up, free local delivery and free shipping as well as the gift card options. So far, I have seen Hull's Art Supplies & Framing in New Haven, RJ Julia Booksellers in Madison and Bishop's Orchards in Guilford promoting these services. This extra effort helps our residents safely obtain the items they need while supporting employment in our region. Hats off to you!

To boost these efforts, we have created a page for local retailers to provide information regarding their new (or existing) customer service options. Local retailers, broadly defined as businesses primarily located within Greater New Haven or an existing partner of Visit New Haven, are welcome to apply for a listing. Depending on the response, we may have to limit the number of listings.

We have borrowed a domain name from a very good friend to make accessing the shopping page as easy as possible. Shoppers can be directed to  for listings.

We understand that this is a fluid situation, so we are not requiring detailed information. We ask that you provide us with a link to your website and phone number so visitors can obtain the most reliable information directly from the source. We will update your listings if you notify us of any changes.

We are activating these web pages as quickly as possible. Adjustments may be necessary as we gather more data and user response. If you see an error or have a suggestion, please let us know. Our feelings won't be hurt. Right now, everyone is doing their best and good ideas are needed to help our residents.

If you have any questions or difficulty submitting the form, please feel free to email Barbara Malmberg at
