Dear Prevention Community,
It’s hard to believe we are already on the brink of the holiday season here in the U.S. And I don’t mean to get preliminarily thankful but here at Stop It Now!; we are indeed feeling particularly grateful these days. There are still of course many challenges as a sexual abuse program, and specifically a perpetration prevention program. But we are encouraged by the increased attention to the conversations and practices that understand the vital impact of pathways of hope and supportive, professional help early to anyone struggling with safe sexual boundaries. This is true for both children and adults.
We hope that you get a chance to check out our new resource for young people, whatsok.org. Currently a pilot project funded in our inaugural year by the World Childhood Foundation, WhatsOK provides both a website and helpline for 14 to 21-year-olds to find information on any concerning sexual interests, thoughts or behaviors in themselves or others. We’re reaching out to youth through social media (Snapchat, TikTok, Instagram) and added texting capacity to the whatsok helpline. Both teens and young adults are reaching out! We look forward to sharing the project’s final data, but the response so far has been very encouraging and positive, from both our target audience and professionals all over, letting us know that this resource helps fill an important gap in perpetration prevention with young people.
“thank you it's been really helpful to talk to someone about this and it has let some steam off my chest.” - 16 year old from the WhatsOK helpline
We are also excited to share our new partnership with USA Football (read more in our Spotlight section below), and we have just announced our Circles of Safety Winter Training Series. Check out the conversations we’re having and sharing, and stay tuned for exciting news about a big anniversary celebration - 2022 is Stop It Now!’s 30th anniversary. We look forward to acknowledging the contributions Stop It Now! has made to sexual abuse prevention, along with our UK and Ireland partners who are celebrating 20 years, Stop It Now! The Netherlands who are celebrating 10 years and Stop It Now! Flanders who is celebrating 5 years. More to come!
With care,
Jenny Coleman

USA Football, the sport’s national governing body and a member of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, came to Stop It Now! asking for prevention-based training and resources to support America’s youth football family. Approximately 100,000 youth football coaches complete USA Football’s nationally-accredited coach certification annually. As part of their coach certification, our Circles of Safety training will be adapted and offered through training videos, webinars and future live workshops beginning in 2022. USA Football demonstrates a continued and strong commitment to offer accessible resources and support to our country’s grassroots football community. Our partnership includes supportive prevention materials and builds on our Helpline resources for this particular audience. Committed to the whole child, and to the fun and fitness that football delivers for our kids, USA Football recognizes the importance of instilling prevention-focused practices and education into its programming for safer, exciting, and successful youth sports experiences.

Circles of Safety Winter 2022 registration is open!
Our winter Circles of Safety training series is open for registration. Join other youth serving professionals in early 2022 to learn the foundations of prevention, intervention and response to child sexual abuse. In 2021, we trained participants from the Montana Office of Public Instruction, Safe Space, Inc., ACRS (Asian Counseling and Referral Service), and many other youth serving organizations. We hope to see you this winter!
