As 2020 comes to a close, we have exciting news to share with you.
The Center for State and Local Government Excellence (SLGE) will be expanding its mission. Since we were founded in 2007 by ICMA-RC, our work has been focused on helping local and state governments become knowledgeable and competitive employers so they can attract and retain a talented and committed workforce.
Our work has become increasingly important this year given the extraordinary strains on state and local governments and their employees amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, economic challenges, increased demand for services, and social unrest. This confluence of events will likely reshape the public sector in many ways – from how public programs are delivered to the financial outlook for both employees and employers who serve their communities.
We are pleased to announce that in addition to continuing our current work, our focus will be expanded to include the mission adjacent non-profit sector, community health care organizations, K-12 and higher education institutions. This will allow our work to have an even greater impact, reaching more sectors and covering more key issues.
As part of this expansion, SLGE will be housed as a research center within ICMA-RC, which has always served as a valued strategic partner and funder of SLGE. Together, we look forward to continuing to deliver the highest quality research that helps inform organizations that serve the public once the transition officially occurs on January 1, 2021. As our plans take shape, we will share additional details on our expanded research agenda. In the meantime, you can expect “business as usual” from the full SLGE team.
We appreciate your continued interest and support of our work, and we look forward to delivering an expanded portfolio of research. If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at email@example.com or 202-682-6104.
Wishing you a safe holiday season and the very best in 2021.
