This week, Harris County welcomes the world as our region hosts seven FIFA World Cup 2026 matches from June 14 through July 4. With visitors arriving from around the globe and excitement building across the region, here is what you need to know to prepare, stay safe, and join the celebration.
Harris County is Prepared
Your safety remains our highest priority, and Commissioner Lesley Briones has been working alongside the City of Houston, FEMA, and our regional partners to prepare for this moment. From law enforcement to our airports to METRO, every partner is working together to keep our region safe and ensure that essential services continue for residents throughout the tournament.
How You Can Prepare
On match days, you can expect heavier traffic, road closures, and longer travel times near venues and gathering areas. Give yourself extra time and check Houston TranStar's live traffic map for the latest conditions before you head out.
Watch Every Match at the Fan Festival
You do not need a ticket to join the celebration. Houston's Fan Festival is showing all 104 World Cup matches. This free public site in East Downtown runs 34 days of the tournament, with giant screens, live music, and global food.
Celebrate in Precinct 4
Closer to home, Commissioner Briones is bringing the tournament to your neighborhood with 12 free events and programs. Put on your favorite jersey and bring the family to celebrate with us:
-
Six community watch parties
- Livestreams of matches at all 10 Precinct 4 community centers
