Embrace Spring in the Yakima Valley with This Weekend Itinerary
Spring has arrived, and with it comes fantastic festivals in the Yakima Valley. Head east of the Cascade Mountains to enjoy events like Spring Barrel wine weekend in April or Yakima Taco Fest and Asparafest in May.

Drive through the valley to see the orchards in bloom before spending a weekend exploring all the area has to offer, from hiking and history to wine tasting and beer tours. Check out the itinerary for where to eat, play, and stay.
A Less-Visited Gem: Explore North Cascades National Park
Located in Northwest Washington, North Cascades National Park is an underrated gem that offers an abundance of outdoor recreation under three hours from Seattle.

Take in the views from a scenic hike, go mountaineering, enjoy a dip in a lake, or camp under the stars with the whole family. You’ll find fewer crowds compared to the state’s two other national parks when you venture to this section of the Cascade Mountain Range.

Discover Small Towns in Washington’s Trails & Lakes Region
Enjoy outdoor recreation, history, and family fun with a visit to one of these small towns and cities in the Trails & Lakes Region of north-central Washington. From hamlets of 100 to those with up to 10,000 residents, smaller communities offer a more laid-back alternative to bustling cities.

Visit the scenic Bavarian town of Leavenworth, sip wine along the lake in Chelan, or browse local art in the Old-West town of Winthrop.
