City Council approves new rate adjustment for Athens Services to comply with AB-1594
In a unanimous vote, the City Council approved a rate adjustment for Athens Services to help comply with a new green waste disposal law known as AB-1594. To fulfill the requirements of AB-1594, Athens will need to transport green waste to an organics composting facility in Victorville City to be processed and recycled.

Older American now underway
The City of San Gabriel, in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, is sponsoring the next “Older American Recognition Day.”

The Community Services Department is soliciting input in determining San Gabriel’s Outstanding Older American. This program is designed to seek out and honor individuals who are 65 years of age and older who are actively involved in service to others in their community.

Please join Chief Eugene Harris on January 28 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the La Casa Community Center located at 203 East Mission Drive.

Attend the Community Academy on January 29
Have coffee with your local police officers and learn more about Measure SG on Wednesday, January 29 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at City Hall in Council Chambers located at 425 South Mission Drive.

This session of the Community Academy will feature a live K9 demonstration. Kids are welcome and free homework help will be provided!
U.S. Chinese-American New Year Gala at the Playhouse
This Sunday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m., join the American Chinese Culture Association for the "2020 U.S. Chinese-American New Year Festival Gala" variety show.

The event is free and open to anyone to attend.
