Last month, our Lux Studio turned into a hands-on learning lab as we hosted an interactive wiring workshop focused on Lutron’s Athena lighting control system—and yes, there was yarn involved. 🧶⚡

Contractors were challenged to “wire” a lighting control system using yarn and mock product, mapping out connections just as they would in the field. This creative exercise sparked great conversations and gave participants a deeper, more intuitive understanding of how Athena is traditionally wired from house to device.

Once the system was fully “wired,” we flipped the script. Wires were cut. Product was pulled. And just like that, we revealed the real lesson of the day: how much time, labor, and material can be saved by leveraging wireless solutions—specifically the Athena Wireless Node.

Seeing the comparison side by side made the impact crystal clear. Less wire. Fewer headaches. Faster installs. Smarter systems.

The workshop wrapped up with plenty of “aha” moments, great questions, and a renewed appreciation for how wireless lighting controls are reshaping the way we design and install systems.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for this creative, hands-on experience—we loved watching the connections come together (and then disappear).

Arizona Lighting Sales is excited to now represent SONNEMAN – A Way of Light, expanding our offerings with iconic, design-driven lighting.

Their latest release, Light in Motion, explores the ageless connection between people and light, reflecting how our relationship with lighting has evolved through greater interactivity, control, movement, and customizability.

👇 Watch the video below as SONNEMAN’s Design Director, Nuno Pires da Silva, discusses the inspiration behind the 2025 Light in Motion release and how these new collections bring dynamic, responsive lighting experiences to life.

When it comes to lighting controls, Sean often starts with a simple question: Why wireless? If you’ve ever seen a control system fully wired out—or participated in our yarn wiring exercise—you’ve seen firsthand how quickly wiring can become complex, cumbersome, and hard to manage.

“That visual really drives home how complicated traditional wiring can get,” says Sean.

Wireless lighting controls offer a smarter alternative. By reducing the amount of physical wiring required, wireless systems can significantly lower both product and labor costs, while also simplifying installation, future changes, and troubleshooting.

Another key advantage is reliability. Most wireless control systems operate on a lower frequency than Wi-Fi and don’t maintain a constant connection, which helps improve security, extend battery life, and reduce interference.

“Instead of re-wiring, changing zones becomes a programming exercise,” Sean explains—saving time, money, and disruption down the road.

And with integral wireless nodes, installers can achieve more granular control while further streamlining the install process.

From design flexibility to long-term adaptability, wireless controls turn complexity into clarity—one less tangle to worry about.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Grand Opening last Thursday! We’re incredibly grateful for the support, kind words, and energy you brought—it truly made the night special and helped kick off this next chapter in the best way. We loved celebrating with you and can’t wait to share more—stay tuned for photos from the event coming soon!
