Historic Deerfield Outdoors combines the best elements of Historic Deerfield as a world-class museum of early New England life and pairs it with the joy of active travel - giving participants the opportunity to explore beyond Deerfield into the Connecticut River Valley.

Explore western Massachusetts during these 5-day programs that let you discover Historic Deerfield and the Connecticut River Valley through active learning, whether its from the seat of your bike, or by boat, bus, or foot!

June 24-29, 2018 or 
August 12-17, 2018
Travel the scenic byways and quiet back roads to some of the Connecticut River Valley's vibrant and charming communities. In addition to great cycling, this tour is rich with opportunities to learn about the natural, historic and cultural distinctions that make this part of Massachusetts so special.


July 16-20, 2018
As one of the best places to study geology in the world, the Connecticut River Valley displays an amazing array of dramatic and even unique geologic events. These events helped to not only shape the natural landscape but also the area's industrial, agricultural and cultural heritage. Learn the stories of this landscape and how its natural history impacted life in the region.

All programs include overnight accommodations at The Deerfield Inn, an historic 19th-century inn with modern amenities. Several meals are also included with each excursion.
